Chasing A Medic!
A few people who read my desperate request for Ammo Packs wondered what I might have to say about similar problems with Med Packs. Well, rather than bore everyone with a long tirade about the need for people to watch their minimap and keep their ears open, I thought I'd get some video evidence. This is for all those doubting Thomases who said that I shouldn't be so harsh and maybe they didn't hear me or they didn't have any packs to drop.
Please excuse the choppy sound and frames, I was running Fraps at 1680 x 1050 and recording the video really taxed my system. The resulting video has been reduced to 640 x 480. File Download: Medic Chasing - 11MB WMV. Admittedly, I didn't really need them that bad, but better to be at full health when there's a lull in the battle. Interesting facts about this video:
The moral of the story: Look behind you. There may be a very tired Aussie lugging an Eryx around with him begging to be patched up. Last edited by Bommando; 03-10-2006 at 03:44 AM. |

Re: Chasing A Medic!
Only 2hrs left in the DL - can't wait to enjoy
![]() EDIT: Okay, that ETA was screwed up. And that video, despite the laughter, makes me kinda sad. Sad because of what Bommando will do to that medic after the round ends.

Re: Chasing A Medic!
Ok, so i guess you werent just venting spleen then.
Shame we cant read the tag, although naming and shaming might be a bit unfair, i think the point is made. My favourite bit is at the start when he/she turns round, looks at you and then sprints off. I also imagine you taking off on another benny hill style chase when you realised you had expended all your eryx ammo trying to get a heal..... I need ammo here! (Dude sprints off towards the horizon, "snick" of a knife beng drawn.... )

Good lord bommando do we need to put a bright pink arrow above your head saying "I like topgun so help me". Good video, you should start your own series "how not to play TG style"

Re: Chasing A Medic!
Bom, I feel your pain. I've had to chase down a medic a few times myself. But I'm usually in the red when I start yelling for a medic. And by the time one realizes I need a medic. I'm dead.

Re: Chasing A Medic!
Wow. That's extreme.
I will note that sometimes the "health bar" above friendlies either lags or doesn't show at all for some reason. I know when people have had to chase me down for meds that's usually been the case. When I hear the medic's call, I do a quick 360 scan to see if I'm in close proximity, and I might look right a person who called and not see the indicator. Even worse is when it's the SL who is down, and the big squad identifier number doesn't show up, and I have to guess which of these 3 bodies to rev first. All that said, the mini-map is your friend, and medpacks are free, so any time you notice a troop formation or a friendly on your six o'clock, throw packs down. ![]()

Re: Chasing A Medic!
After Bom's original post about ammo I began dropping ammo and health whenever im not actually pointing a gun to shoot someone. I also try to drop them in corners and behind cover whenever possible and especially when on defense.
An amazing thing occured. Now that I have started doing this my score when playing these kits has gone up considerably. So if your a score whore and playing support or medic..... drop it buddy.

Re: Chasing A Medic!
At the same time, if you're injured and call for a medic, don't run away from the one trying to chase you down. And try to find somewhere relatively safe, don't run into the middle of a firefight.
*cough* I remember playing recently with a certain unnamed australian who I spent about 20s trying to chase down before getting shot while running after him across the Karkand bridge. :P |

What I really was trying to say was that I couldn't figure out how the higher scoring players would be so much higher then me but after I began dropping ammo and med packs constantly or playing engineer when in a vehicle squad I noted that my overall score would be way higher then as a grunt just trying to kill and capture. Kinda funny how you can miss the obvious stuff While overall score is really meaningless to helping your squad if you play the support kits well it can reflect your overall contribution even if you got no kills.
