Would you buy EF if....

Just a supplementry poll to go along with Bommando's. I think this could help in the decision as well. If you think this poll should not be up, feel free to close it Bom.

Just wanted to see if you would buy it if put on server 1. Im sure they are some ppl that wont buy it no matter what, and those that will wait to see what other say about it and if its getting a lot of players playing it. Personally, im downloading it right now. So, what say you?

Re: Would you buy EF if....

I was just playing it and WOW .... Operation Smoke Screen is the SHIZZLE !!!

Amazing, a Company looking to make money .... go figure ...... and some people want to rebel against the very company that brought them HOURS upon HOURS of enjoyment, Scrims, Knife Fights, Headshots, mass grenade kills .....

It kills me to hear such stuff .......

Yes, there are bugs .... are they really that bad .... no ....
Yes, they want to charge money for work they have put into this ..... They are a COMPANY ... go make Ice Cream and then give it away for free ..... sooner or later you will run out of money to buy more resources to make the Ice Cream and you will go out of business ...

I have seen Companies make great games and then just "UP AND LEAVE" and then your game goes to the Garage Sale ...... I applaud EA for continuing to develope and add-on to the game to keep it interesting ....

There are tons of people (plenty in 2nd) who cannot even get in the game anymore after the patches.

Everyone loves and defends EA until something bad happens to them and they switch sides. There are plenty of people who have been screwed in this game and others which is why some dont just open their wallets for everything EA offers.

Re: Would you buy EF if....

I am grateful to EA/DICE for providing a game like BF2 (and BF1942 of course) with a solid squad structure, impressive gfx, fluid animations, mod support and some other great BF things I took granted and forgot to mention now. But it ends there. If half the credit goes to EA/Dice, the other goes to community (mod developers like our own Duke/Asch + like-minded players) for turning arcade fragfest BF games into meaningful tactical experiences.

BF2 Tactical Mod, Red Orchestra and OFP mods like FFUR will be more than enough for my tactical gaming needs. In the mean time, some fantastic BF2 mods like PoE2 and FH2 will be released. Then, Armed Assault will be at the door.

I guess what I am trying to say is I can do just fine without purchasing a booster pack. I have no intentions to play vanilla BF2 anymore.

And in my opinion, "but it is cheap" argument is not valid . Because it is a subjective matter. If BF2 is the only game you are playing then it may be a good deal for you. For a guy in my position, it would be like throwing a $10 bill out of the window. Ok it is not that much money but why would I throw it out?

Re: Would you buy EF if....

I am against EA for forcing DICE to finish the game, so it has numerous bugs and regularly crashes.

I am for EA because it is still a great game and they haven't ditched it.

Anyway, on topic, I already have EF, it is great, get it!

It's not that the bugs are game-killing (though some certainly are), it's that many of the bugs have been around since the initial release and still have not been addressed; nevermind the fact that each new patch brings even more bugs (I'm suffering from the random no/double grenade bug). People still complain about the red nametag bug, and we've been through 2.75 patches, a full expansion and now a map pack. That a company apparently is willing to spend time and money developing a new money-maker for a game rather than fix bugs that have been around for nearly a year now speaks of bad business.

I am perfectly capable of spending a paltry $10 for this map pack, but would prefer not to give EA more money for this game until they completely fix the original game. Should server #1 go to the EF pack, I'm 80:20 against spending the money in order to keep playing. I'd likely just suffer through being kicked from the server.

Re: Would you buy EF if....

Dude, these maps are freakin awesome. I just got done messin around it them. Very big maps. Smoke screen is going to be the scene of some giant armor columns. That black haze is amazing. The quarry map is huge and requires some good buggy work. Commanders should love than one too. Great Wall is simply beautiful. Might need another flag or two but hey, it might work the way it is.

All in all this looks to be great fun. Im really sorry for those who cant play anymore. But those that can and continue to, you really owe it to yourself if you like bf2 to get this pack. Its well worth the money and im glad i got it.

SF seemed too much like a different game. Maybe it was just me, but it felt good sometimes goin back to vannilla after playing it even though i enjoyed it. EF seems a LOT more natural for me. It just seems like some new maps that are pretty easy to learn and whole lot of fun to play.

On a side note, the placement on most of the TOW's are awesome.

Gladly can say I agree about the TOW placement. Typically higher than the flag and it's not limited with Sandbags keeping your aim down. The TOW's kill APC's in one shot, tanks it will make them smoke and you can finish them easily with a second shot. Many flags have 1, some have 2 for bottlenecks.

Re: Would you buy EF if....

Tows are really dangerous to armour in EF. I thought it was just a freak occurence when the TOW blew away an APC in one shot. Seems like the norm though.

Ha, i remember that yesterday on great wall, JTH, when I blew that apc with one shot, figured it's just where I hit it (in the tail end). Apparently anyway.
