For "good things" all he would have to do is ask for the ip...

If you're concerned about security, ZoneAlarm will give you the ip of anything trying to access your computer. I'm sure there are other, smaller programs that would do the same thing if you don't want to block anything but still want to log ip addresses.

Re: IP addresses

sometimes, a program called "activeports" would work (its on downloads.com somewhere).

basicaly if yout chatting to someone on msn it wont work, but if you try and do a file send to him or him to you, it SHOULD show up on the list and will show his ip.

you can also type netstat in dos/cmd to see this......

BUT...what are you doing?

Are you blocking an incoming connection or creating an outgoing connection?

Re: IP addresses

2. trojan - a program that appears desirable but actually contains something harmful; "the contents of a trojan can be a virus or a worm"; "when he downloaded the free game it turned out to be a trojan horse"

Trojan - A definition

A Trojan, or a Trojan Horse, is a destructive program that masquerades as an usable application. Unlike viruses, trojans does not replicated themselves. One example of a trojan horse is a program that claims to find and delete viruses, but instead it introduce a virus on your computer.
