Mic problems with new sound card.

I hope you don't mind me posting this here, someone in the TG server said you'd be able to help me. First off i'll give you some info on my computer, maybe this will help figure out what the problem is.

Amd 64 processor 3700+
2.4 Ghz
1 gig ram
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500
Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit
130 gig harddrive.

Well... I know for certain that the Mic does work, because I can unhook the soundcard and use the internal one, and all is fine. When I try to hook it up to the soundcard, it shows it as connected, but it just won't take any input. I've tried making sure it was taking input from the control pannel, and it said it was. So i'm not quiet sure what to do here, any suggestions?

You may need to make sure your mic is the selected device for recording audio, and that its volume is turned up to an appropriate level. I have a Creative sound card, and I had the same problem with my mic initially.

Go into your Control Panel and select Sound and Audio Devices. Choose the Audio tab, like so:




Click the Volume... button under Sound recording, and a box like this should pop up:




Make sure the Microphone is selected and that its volume slider is all the way up, as shown. This will ensure that you have your microphone selected as the input device for audio, and that the volume is set loud enough for you to be heard by others.

Also, be sure to have your onboard (internal) sound card disabled in the BIOS.

If this doesn't fix your issue, let us know.

I set it up like you've said, but I couldn't find anything in BIOS that refered to the sound. (Still no go on the Mic)
