Error Messages

My favorite Haiku error messages...

The web site you seek
Cannot be located but
endless others exist.

or

Chaos reigns within.
Reflect, repent and reboot.
Order shall return.

or

First snow, then darkness.
Your thousand dollar screen dies
so beautifully.

Re: Error Messages

The first haiku's flawed
"Endless others exist" has
Six syllables. Duh.

Re: Error Messages

I was going to contribute to this haiku thread, but then I remembered a project I did in eleventh grade. We had to rewrite a play we had read (in some creative way), and I decided that it was a silly project, so I was going to do a silly response. I wrote 45 haikus to rewrite the play "Everyman," and my teacher was so impressed, she gave me over 100.

However, I swore never to write one... again.

That's a freaking travesty
They're like poems but fun

Re: Error Messages

5-7-5 does not make a haiku. Haikus are about nature and enlightenment, not about "freaking travesties"...

Re: Error Messages

Technically, they are also in Japanese, where the 5-7-5 convention is actually MUCH harder to build. In English it's just a counting game.

True enough. With a haiku you're supposed to have a word to tell which season you're in or something like that (I'm not big on poetry). People pervert the rules though; I've got a "Haikus for Jews" book sitting next to me where the author admittedly ignores the whole "reference a season" thing. And if you can get published, then it's official. Basically, as far as you and I are concerned, haikus are a joke, since you can just stick anything into 5-7-5 and it counts. And by counts, I mean published.
