North Texas tornado

Check out the pic of the tornado's path:

I think that a tornado is the only "act of god" that I haven't experienced firsthand. I'd really like to see one with my own eyes, but without it coming too close... Not sure I can get a guarantee for either of those two things, though.

With perhaps the best movie dialog of all time:

"Cow."

"Cow."

Yea, I'd like to see one too, but when I'm several states from home. They're just so unpredictable that you don't wanna be anywhere near your house when you see one.

I wanna see an active volcano too.. one that's actually spewing lava down the side.

There's lava oozing from Mount St. Helens right now, isn't there? I think I read that recently.

Re: North Texas tornado

I've lived in Texas most of my life, and never actually seen a live tornado, Only thing a tornado was happening about 2miles from me, but it was like an f1 so it was pretty small, and not large enough to see. At the point those, I was worried about losing my computer unhooking it and puting it in the one of the doorways to keep it safe.

Re: North Texas tornado

Earthquakes are doorways, tornado's are basements.

Sheesh you've never seen a tornado? Here in Kansas they are entertainment, drive through Wichita during a tornado warning and I swear you will see half the city in their lawn chairs watching the storm.

Ask and Ye Shall Receive!!!

Photos are 3-4 days old from Hawaii's Pu'u o'o vent as the lava hits the ocean. You'll have to wait another day or two before I get my shots looking down from the helicopter into the vent itself.

Here is a daylight shot of lava hitting the ocean. Nikon D50, 100-400 VR at roughly 3 miles shot in steady 15 knot wind.

Same general area except at night you can't directly see the steam. Only what is lit up from the lava reflecting into the steam. Long exposure at too long of a distance, but it is what it is.

And here is where we wanted to leave our car.

Tail end, here is views of the Pu'u O'o vent on Hawaii from a chopper...

I posted the links as I know that the pictures could really slow those down with poor bandwith...

Steam from where the lava enters the water, look closely and you can see just a touch of orange.

Looking into the Pu'u O'o Vent... Note the wooden box someone set on the left side of the crater for size.

Second vent in a series of 4 in the crater...

Same vent as the first, different direction...
