While watching the zombie audiance in the Dice interview,
i thouht: how good are these guys? How do they play? Cheap or fair? Do they play mods? How Much time and effort do they put into playing? Do they all play on Ranked servers? Do they play with finesse and mechanized efficancy that TG does (during scrims we can be awsome)? Are there Clans with more disipline and maturity than TG? So i ask the TG community, what are their veiws and thouhgts about Clans such as the ones seen in the audiane or what makes TG different from such Clans of all shapes, skills, and maturity. The couple of months i played before finding TG i was totally pissed at the poor unit integrity on other servers. That and no mics. (note: i was playing on unranked servers) Is TG the best of the best?

Re: How good are some Clans??
If you're talking about competitive clans, like the guys that play in TWL or CAL, then we're playing a different game. They have a different mindset than we do and are willing to do whatever necessary, short of cheating, to win. Not necessarily cheap, just different, ya dig?
I don't know about the clans that DICE invited, but the top TWL and CAL guys are pretty good computer gamers, IMO. That's not to say that we don't have good players or that they're better than us though. Our players prefer a certain gamestyle, their players prefer another gamestyle. You won't find the top clans on ranked servers, at least not playing seriously. They'll probably be on their private servers practicing, scrimmaging, or playing matches. I'd say that they are fairly well disciplined, especially because they play smaller matches - 5v5 or 8v8.. Just one "weak link" and their whole plan can be ruined.

Re: How good are some Clans??
Yeah, what perry said. But just to emphasize one point: these guys are playing 5v5 and 8v8. It's more like CS:S than BF2 in that they aren't utilizing squads nor 'working as a team' in the same way that we do. And in what they do, I am sure that they are unbelievably good. I believe top CS:S players put in around 12 hours a day, and I'd imagine these guys put in similar amounts of time.
Insofar as 64 player games are concerned, I believe we've played pretty much everyone out there, right?

Re: How good are some Clans??
We had a brief glimpse at a clan like this a long time ago. They hid one guy near our tank respawn for ages, just hiding with the soul intention of stealing it when it spawned. No teamwork, and quite 'gamey' (if effective) tactics.
They also used continuous suicide c4 vans against our tank. The thinking was they were swapping 1 ticket and a jeep to keep our tank out of commission. Seeing as how a tank on an 8v8 game can easily hold a flag by itself agains this was quite a good tactic, if very gamey. They are very disciplined at what they do, and 5v5 or 8v8 I imagine that we would struggle to come close to them, especially playing by our mindset. However at 32v32 the ball is in our court, as our experience, competent squad leaders and COs and team based tactics nullifies many of the little tricks that work so well in 8v8. As perry said - very different styles. Tybalt - you could be right, at least we struggle to find 32 v 32 games. Those we have played have been good fun, and on the whole have been successful for TG.

Re: How good are some Clans??
I think that this thread ( and others) shows that Rick is a "deep thinker" which explains why I jump into his squad any chance I get. As to the thread itself....... it's a question of tactics in one scenario vs tactics in another. In a small map where they will utilize C4 jeeps and suicide tactics they will win. In a larger map where team/unit/squad cohesion is paramount we'll rock them every time. Each and every player in BF2 has a niche where he or she is perfect it's just a matter of bringing them to the TG niche and stomping a mud hole in them and teaching them a better way. I am a firm believer that on a large map TG rules all. The reason for that mainly is that medics from any squad will rush to a fallen troop and revive them. On several occasions on public servers I've seen medics run past a dead guy to crash a flag or grab a piece of equipment. I refuse to do that! As a plate steel medic I refuse to run past a fallen troop to reach an objective! My first concern is life for my team, continuation of the TG way of life and a full squad of healthy troops to take an objective! If the public medics did this instead of padding stats there would be alot more great games out there but of course then TG wouldn't be special anymore. It's a catch 22 but I like it.

Re: How good are some Clans??
I've played in LANs a few times on teams with casual gamers such as myself. I found the serious teams had a do-anything attitude to get the win. I'm sure if we were as aggressive it would have been a more even match in some cases, but I don't really enjoy that type of play. Basically, the other team would try to pin you down to your uncappable and then just rape. Just a big "blitz" all the time, and a race to see who could snap up all the CP's the fastest.
That type of play style is mainly why I don't enjoy leaguing in any game. |

Re: How good are some Clans??
It doesnt have to be funfor them they just need to win (Thats whats wrong with some the young gamers). I played on CAL for a while but realised it want that fun, people where complaing about each other and using any advantage possible. TG style is such a diffrent experience it cant even be said in a few words. I personally hate using cheap tricks to win a game. A fair win its so much more rewarding mentaly than an cheating one. That doesnt say I wont shoot somebody in the back as I consider that fair.

Re: How good are some Clans??
I used to play league matches in a competitive TFC clan, but only because my friends wanted me to join them. I didn't really enjoy that style of gameplay, and a large portion of the people whom I played with or against were immature, egotistical morons.
TG has the right balance of community, competitiveness, and skilled players.

Re: How good are some Clans??
Just as an aside to thise thread. Most of those guys are all about stat padding and unlocks. This really becomes evident on a server that doesn't penalize for team kills. I've been shot and killed several times when I run into a building to help the guys there defend and to revive some of them. As soon as the enemy is gone and everyone is healed then all the blue names in the room turn on me. It's pretty crappy.
