1.4 Beta Pub Raid - Sun 9th July (9.30pm GMT)(10.30pm CET)(5.30pm EDT)

1.4 Beta Pub Raid - Sun 9th July (9.30pm GMT)(10.30pm CET)(5.30pm EDT)
Time changed due to football World Cup Final

meet up on teamspeak (channel Pub Raid - Beta Patch) and take it from there

There is a new server now
1.4 Beta USA 24/7 Jalalabad 208.67.48.1 16577

Let's try to get on that one, I've got a feeling its going to be a really popular server

If you want to play a good new map with your TG buddies then come along !

Download 1.4 patch from
EA (probably slow)
I3D (probably fast)

Make sure you follow the Read Me instructions so that you can easily switch between 1.3 & 1.4

Code:
Installation steps to protect your original BF2 install:
Beta Installation

Go to “C:\Program Files\EA GAMES”
Right click the “Battlefield 2” folder and choose “Copy”
Right click anywhere away from this folder and choose “Paste”
Once the copy has completed, you will have two folders named “Battlefield 2” and “Copy of Battlefield 2”
Install the patch 1.4 beta, then start the game as normal

When you wish to switch back to the release version of BF2, use the following steps:

Go to “C:\Program Files\EA GAMES”
Right click the “Battlefield 2” folder and choose “Rename”
Rename the folder to something like “Battlefield 2 Beta”
Right click the “Copy of Battlefield 2” folder
Rename the folder the “Battlefield 2”
Start the game as normal.

The shortcut will run BF2.exe from whichever folder is named “Battlefield 2” and both installations share the same registry entries.

Using the above steps will negate the need to completely uninstall and re-install whenever you wish to switch from the retail version to the beta version and vice versa.

Re: 1.4 Beta Pub Raid - Sun 9th July (8pm GMT)(9pm CET)(4pm EDT)

I've blatantly stolen this change list from :
http://www.battlefield2142.nl/

-------------INFO------------
Hi Guys,
Please review the no vehicle option details below. Hopefully this helps people understand and enjoy this feature a bit more.

No vehicles - We removed vehicles to change up the manner in which the game it played. This places more focus on how players strategize their movements and also reinforces player skill (i.e. accuracy, etc).

Damage decrease - Prolonged gunfights that allow players to make decisions under fire.

Commander without Artillery or Vehicles

Longer spawn time - The long respawn also creates an incentive to change up the manner in which the game is played. There is a greater consequence on death. We also saw the need to slow the pace of the game down somewhat in order to increase the intensity.

Longer Revive Time - This helps to compensate for the long spawn time. With 30 seconds of revive time, there is a greater chance to be revived. This is also beneficial since there is a greater need to revive players. The extra time also allows for medics to give some thought as to when to revive a player. Medics can allow dangers to pass then revive a player rather than being required to rush into danger.

Reduce health pack replenish - This is a rebalance of the medic class to prevent exploits created by the reduction in damage.

RIBs & Parachutes left in game - Some maps require water transport or parachutes to work.

TOW missile left in place

The stench of shame from forgetting the time of the world cup final and then it being pointed out by an American of all people will hang around me for a considerable time to come.

The stench of shame is on me too, we should just have a bath to clean it off then we will smell of roses again (seperate baths of course, we are British)
