New Tag Bug... By Design
Talking Vanilla & EF/AF Server 1 action here:
I am running into a new situation more frequently in CQB where an enemy will be between me and my squadmates, and since I can clearly see my mates tags through the enemy I don't fire... and die for my trouble. In the heat of battle it's pretty hard to tell if the tag is 12 pixels above the head of the player or not... and if there are more than one friendly over there I'll see tags hanging off the enemy like he's a crack head being paid to play Xmas tree. This didn't happen until recently, and I don't know if it's because something changed in the way tags are viewed or if I changed my playstyle to do more flanking; but it's frustrating nontheless. Has anyone else run into this? We should be able to fix it by adjusting tag view, and I'd like to see something change. It's pretty reasonable to assume I'd be able to tell a real MEC soldier apart from 3 USMC guys IRL, and that I wouldn't see the US flag through the MEC guy's body. Some options to fix:

Mabey, but friendly fire accidents happened and do still happen in real life, but technology now a days makes mis-idnetification almost obsolete. It does make it confusing in CQB to have friendly tags, but you have to be careful where you are shooting, thats part of the reason of FF.

Re: New Tag Bug... By Design
I am running into that problem quite a bit now. I am pretty sure it is a result of our increased manouvering as a squad. I think its just something that we have to live with by increased concentration on uniforms at close range. On my PC there is quite a marked difference in darkness between the two. The other day i was doing rear secuirty on inishail, turned round and started following the sniper in front of me. It was only after about thirty seconds when i started to try and get into a buddy rush motion that i realised he was an opfor sniper who had somehow run between our squad. I rapidly got a knife in the face for my pains to protect him.
Im not sure if id like to see something change though. It might be worth taking a look at the various threads in the tacmod forum regarding tags and view distance etc. They have made quite a few tweaks and as such there is probably some good stuff in there regarding pros and cons of each tweak.

Re: New Tag Bug... By Design
I have noticed this also ... acouple times and lately.
I also notice sometimes my teammate will have a blue (or green) vehicle drop symbol above their name. This started after the last patch. Maybe the name position was changed when this other change was made. |
