Reporting problem players/server issues reminder

There are a few things you as players could do to help increase and maintain the quality of play here on our servers. We run a pretty tight community here but are still open to the public. I like to think the atmosphere here is overwhelmingly friendly and helpful but there are always going to be problem players.

Although this is covered in the How to report a problematic player and how to contact an admin posts, it might be time for a quick refresher.

If you notice any untoward behaviour by a player in your squad your first step should be to inform the player politely that expressly prohibited behaviour is not tolerated. Be sure to refer to the rules, SOPs and player standards threads to refresh yourselves of what is not tolerated. Quoting false rules or communicating personal bugbears as server policy is not something we would like to see. Many new people are unused to a server like ours and a gentle word is often all that is required to start shaping said individual into a blossoming TGer.

If this is impractical, fails or you are in any way unsure please report it on teamspeak. That allows you to quickly communicate the relevant information to the admins and makes taking action much quicker and more effective. It also decreases the chances of misunderstandings.

If you have terminal issues getting onto TS at the same time as playing then the server chat text is monitored. Although a message like "nice bunnyhopping" gets our attention, without the name of the player or a context it makes it very hard to do anything. A message like " hey *player name* please could you not bunny hop on our server" is both polite and communicates more information to all concerned. Reports from multiple players make it very easy to act as it eliminates the accident factor to a large degree. Wherever possible TS should still be your primary recourse for immediate issues though.

It is also nice if you can refrain from dictating the action that should be taken in any given scenario. It is the admins prerogative to decide what shall be done on a case to case basis. A message such as " hey admin! kick *blah* for spawn camping!" will draw a less favourable reaction than a simple report of the problem. Incidences like this send out a negative image and undermine our ability to impartially rule on an issue.

Players telling admins when things go wrong is the key to keeping up our server standards. Even if it's a PM after the fact, it gets our attention on a particular player and/or problem action. We can then address it with a PM, public post, or further action ourselves. It is not always possible or practical to sort things out on the spot but getting the information to us quickly is secondary to getting the information to us PERIOD.

Thank you in advance for your help in keeping up the standards on our servers.

Now that we have a huge new influx of people to POE2 i thought this could do with a quick bump.

Yes it is a good post Jimmy but right now on the POE server unTG like play is rampant everywhere you look and you would spend more time with the admins than with playing the game. It's pretty ugly out there

Report away! The only way to get it cleaned up is if you guys tell us who is causing problems. We are somewhat lenient right now and are issuing lots of warnings, but at the same time the quality of play needs to improve.

Re: Reporting problem players/server issues reminder

If each TG regular on the server just reports one act of idiocy per gaming session it will lead to a big improvement. In the last 4 hours there have only been 2 TS reports of misconduct. People seem happy enough to take the time to write messages in chat completely devoid of any identifying information which will make action possible. All i say is if you spot something obvious call it out. You dont have to be auxiliary admins and be on constant high alert for infringements.

The only way to get the server up to standard is to police it. Its much easier to do that with feedback.

This is a good bump. Although I haven't really seen anything yet, the feel of PoE2 on our server does feel awfully pubbish. Other than spamming for people to get in squads, I'll try and make more of an effort to look at what other people are doing and report them accordingly. i'm sure you admins have your hands full right about now!

Re: Reporting problem players/server issues reminder

Don't worry about us having our hands full. Report any and all bad behavior in TS as soon as possible after it happens so we can keep the smacktards out while educating those that want to play with maturity and teamwork that this is actually a server they'll want to come back to.

Had this exact experience last night on POE. After killing a bunnyhopper, I asked in chat "<player name> please don't bunnyhop" next time he spawned he came after me, faced off with me and killed me without bunnyhopping. I probably gave him the incentive to be a better player.
