AAR Inishail Scrim 7/17

Fantastic round of games! I have to give absolute props to those who did the research and hit the private server! Sassyone, Corridon, WhiskeySix who helped us plan the match, amazing job. Rocketpunch who went above and beyond in providing intel on the map including tons of screenshots. The 12th who spent A TON of face time on the private server as well as Patriot, Hambergler, Rocketpunch, Reader.

The start as US went exactly as planned as we deployed to our positions hoping that the we could hold our flags and that the Chineese would not be satisfied with a killzone deathmatch. They pushed and pushed and pushed their way to a 100 ticket deficit. That 100 ticket lead lasted all the way until the last 150 tickets where the Chineese finally broke into bleed. The Allies (US) were finally able to grab the outpost flag at the end in order to finish out the game. Final score 32-0.

Props to the Blair Witch Squad which deployed exactly as we needed to. When Sassy gave us the order to move to the Farm, we broke through the front line of the Chineese in order to secure the Farm flag. It took us a couple pushes, but after clearing out Santa we were able to hold it for a while. The Chineese came back in force and the flag flipped back a couple of times. We then regathered and harrassed the Outpost Flag for a bit before breaking back for the Farm flag retaking it. One extremely successful run had our squad snagging the Powerplant, a flag that I thought would be close to uncappable. Rocket and Kilrogg cleared the roof, Reader took the flag. Props to Kilrogg who played out of his skull, Reader who did a fantastic job as medic and RocketPunch who played an unfamiliar kit (Engineer) early before rounding out the squad on our back flag pushes as anti infantry (Medic and Assault). Outstanding game and Incredible Effort from the Blair Witch Squad.

Chineese had the Allies quickly capturing the Outpost, Powerplant, going back and forth at the Suburbs and snagging the Undefended Village. I can't describe the action all over the map as the fight was pretty intense all over.

Blair Witch Squad started at the farm picking up SL's Corridon and Sordavie dropping them off at the Suburbs. Our instructions were of the much more aggressive variant where my squad as they spawned in were immediately directed to continue to the village. We pulled that flag which we then held for great portions of the game along with the 1rstMIP and 12th both helping us out. Attack runs, we were asked to hit the Fortification, Suburbs, Farm at different points in the game to help out other squads. Our squad shined the best in being able to move quickly whereever we were needed and also for our solid defense at the Village flag against waves of attacking mercanaries. Outstanding job to Kilrogg who ended game 1 with 69 kills and game 2 with 48. Between him and Mantis, they accounted for 130 kills one game and 110 the other. Reader performed extremely well as Medic and Rocket who started with the tough engineer kit and again went medic halfway through. I am extremely proud of how we performed and would gladly welcome any of these guys back into my squad! Final score game 2, 235-0.

Great games

Re: AAR Inishail Scrim 7/17

Good showing by everyone in attendance. The first game was very close toward the end, and with another 2 minutes I think we would've gotten it. The second game was a whole different story, and we just got plain outgunned. Look at the scoreboard when it gets posted and notice the difference in the Kill/Death ratios for the top 10 guys on either side. Yow.

Good games though. Scrims are seriously the pinnacle of great gameplay for BF2 at TG. From the planning to the hour before's pre-game silliness through the AAR, these scrims bring out the best in the community.

Re: AAR Inishail Scrim 7/17

Just some comments on Allies strategies... maybe merc's could post theirs as well and we can learn from it.
---------------------
As USMC, our plan was to not go for bleed. Instead we chose to go for strong defensive positioning, knowing that the 7th and company would be super agressive and come hard at us for bleed. We tried to have a numbers advantage at each flag, and focus on staying alive.

We hoped to keep our opening positions for as long as possible:

Fortunately we were able to get a fair lead on Merc's as they assaulted the meat grinder... that action at the suburbs was just INTENSE. Never saw so many bodies - alive and dead - fighting for one flag!

About 1/2 way through the round, Mercs started breaking through to the rear and held bleed for much of the last 1/4 of the game... fortunately that opening was so bloody for them, Allies managed to squeak out a win.

---------------------

For the second round as PLA, i'm sure our tactics were about the same as Merc's:

Contrary to the first round, we went for bleed here. Sassy CO'd both rounds and did an amazing job... I'm not sure what happened because squads were rotating back and forth like crazy... Here we were much more agressive and (as the Merc's did for the latter half of round one) did a much better job of "hitting em where they aint"

Ok I'll do the honors. This was the best scrim yet, even though it was only my third. Awesome heart pounding action on both sides.

Re: AAR Inishail Scrim 7/17

Thank you everyone for some great gaming tonight. That was pretty much my first beginning to end scrim SL adventure since joining TG. I've SL'd in s few scrims before, but they were NOTHIN like that.

We were Squad three - so you can see our initial positions on the map.

Holding the SW corner of the lake was a blast when we were on USMC but we held up quite well, I thought, there were some breaks but Everyone just really held together. NattIced kept the road mined even though we only needed that once and manned the 50cal like a champ. Heyob was our forward spotter and kept us on top of what was coming down the road. Marstein was EVERYWHERE we needed him to be despite some communications issues that round. Hambergler was quiet but on the ball - definately the one of the best squads I'd ever had - and right up there with my squad on the second round.

The second round - our goal was to hang on to PowerPlant initially - and we did.. but I had on oversight and the USMC got behind us on the ridge, and just picked us off the roof eventually.. it was crazy - we lost the flag - but couldn't get off the roof to regain it. Finally we let it fall and the retook it with Squad 4 (?) later on. After holding PP for awhile, Sassy moved us over to work Farm for awhile as a distraction - but we managed to take it and hold it for awhile. Mosely joined us on that run and was pricless in keeping me alive along with Hambergler and .. umm, someone I am forgetting.. at one point we had three medics.. and I USED EVERYONE OF THEM - Bommando would have been proud.

In the second round - everyone had gotten to know each other in the first, so things were a lot more comfortable (I thought) and we spread out to good defensive and proactive positions automatically and intuitively. ..

Anyhow - I'm tired and going to bed - hope you all had as much fun as I - win or loose!

Edit! I can't forget Cantpickwhatnameiwant who pretty much acted as a solid wall to anything that came up against 'em.. and did 'Vodnik Recon' - that would've been a fun ride in the passenger seat.

Sure I hope I didn't forget anyone else - I seem to recall seeing a 'green name' once or twice that I didn't recognize as part of our original crew - but then some parts were just a blur..

OH! And on TOP OF IT ALL.. Sassy crashed out - what 4 times? 5? - Give th' sista a HAND! And a BIG round of applause for Mantis stepping up - or was it Coridon.

Re: AAR Inishail Scrim 7/17

I had so much fun tonight! From the moment I spawned in the first game, my adrenaline was running, and it didn't stop until the second round was over. My whole quad seemed to be on fire the whole night. Gratz to whiskey for great SLing, and to the whole 12th for great teamwork! Everything felt really tight both rounds, great job everyone.

Second round highlight: Taking Farm by myself from (i think) the banhammers. I turned the flag, then got taken out by the sl, who then turned the flag back. Then I came back up with jmaker, and we almost got it again, but were repelled off. Then Whiskey called us to another assault, and we had to leave it. Intense few encounters, though, felt awesome.

Towards the end of the second round, I spawned in with 9 tickets on the opp. team left, and wanted to get one more. I was removed from most of the action, though, but I managed to get one shot in:

So....when can we do this again?????

Re: AAR Inishail Scrim 7/17

Props to everyone who made it tonight, especially in my squad (USMC #5) which was totally thrown together during roll call to replace the 33rd. We didn't have time to "practice" anything, but we did well, especially during the first round defending FORTIFICATION. We had two Humvees and the mounted .30 cal, and squad #6 (1stMIP) had another Humvee on the eastern hill and there were times there was so many tracers directed south it looked like a frickin' Laser Pink Floyd concert.

Eventually a PLA squad made it past SUBURB to Village, and another one swam the lake. Squad #6 (1stMIP) was pulled to retake Village and our east flank was totally exposed so FORTIFICATION fell as well.

It then became "grab any flag you can" which really puts USMC at a disadvantage on that map but we'd built up such a large lead we ended up winning.

It couldn't have happened unless everyone held firm during the first half of that map so kudos to the USMC "D" that round!!

Re: AAR Inishail Scrim 7/17

Congrats Allies. Good to see Reader1234 getting some props. Same thing with RP, he is good with a clip board and a rifle.

I had sound issues and could not hear in game sounds. However, I was good with the Mic. So that sucked hard.

First Match
@The Dude. YOur strategy as The USMC was one of my ideas. If both sides did this we would have been staring right at each other for a while with no bleed. Depending on the ticket count the C.O. would run the clock down. If down on tickets, at a set time, a multi attack would begin to stop the stalemate. You guys getting Suburbs with multi squads and defending your ground was good stuff. Good work.
We think a like Dude, no wonder we both liked the no flag/ no bleed map idea.

I was squad 1 with Bom. Medic 2. Did o.k.; finished 5th. 18/25 kill death ratio.
Our primary medic, bleak did great, the squad did super also.

Second match

Agressive explains things well Allies.

I was in Santas squad 1 as assault.

We did well taking Suburb and defended well. I really do not know much after that. Flanked Village, and shot around. Later in the match we helped cap power station and stayed there. We defended. later with 50 tickets left, Santa let us loose a little, so i worked on getting killed by the 12th some more.
Finshed 24th 8/17. I was 8/9 pre knowing we would lose big time.

Man what a beating.

Thanks for organizing the scrim and all admins.
Thanks TG.

Re: AAR Inishail Scrim 7/17

That was some strong work. P8riot was a very level headed SL. Props. My squad had good chemistry. The planning on tacticalconflict was perfect. I have to admit, I didn't think the strategies would work but once the scrim got started it was obvious that they were spot on. And thanx to the organizers, for putting it together.

Re: AAR Inishail Scrim 7/17

Say, why didn't we all line up at the end of the second round and give each other the "good game good game good game" spiel as we shook hand and patted each other on the tush?

To the mercencaries, you guys played tough. I'm sure you'll "get 'em" next time...

Keep that chin up, kiddo!!!

And refresh my memory about who was playing TAPS on TS before the 1st round... ??
