Re: TG vs =GC=
Great games! Felt like epic battles raging left and right and in front of me
![]() First round on Daiqing I was flying around in the Apache with Shakey as gunner. Until we got hit by AA, .50s or TV missile fire, going down in flames. About 20 times. No wonder we won only by close margin with all the tickets I lost the team ![]() First time flying the attack chopper a whole round I really had a hard time. Nice gunning there Shakey and thanks for your patience. Here is the 7th taking their assigned positions on their Blackhawk prior to deployment: ![]() Mashtuur was intense. Hooking up with Beatniks squad, primary objective was to hold mosque. Which we did. Our quest for world domination led us to the power plant eventually but in the end the mosque was the place to be. Fighting nonstop! The mosque roof was the favorite hiding spot for GC. Sneaky but not too successful ![]() Defensive setup at the mosque: ![]() Last map was Shongua and I was SLing one of the blackhawk fast reaction squads with Hambergler, derdmeh and Beatnik. I stayed in the chopper for most of the round and deployed/picked up the squad as directed by Tybalt. Often zipping from flag to flag supporting squads/defending/taking flags all over the place. I did not see a lot of the action myself but everybody in my squad was performing extremely well! And hey, i did not crash the chopper once! Thanks GC for the nice fight and everyone who was involved organizing the scrim.

Re: TG vs =GC=
I was in boms squad in daquing and it was pretty brutal. At first we defended the east oifield with the mip. We couldnt seem to get over the 10 ticket deficit, but once our squad went to the old city it seemed to open things up for us. We didnt capture the old city, but we seemed to keep so many of them busy that the other squads were able to establish a really good bleed. With 40 tickets left it was becoming increasingly more obvoius that we were going to pull it out.
Mashtuur. The first minute had good and bad. We got the T 90 (Very cool seeing it get all the way back to the backyard), but the gas station was under a HUGE freaking attack. I got out of my CO screen, saw a chopper on the flag with a bunch of guys geting out and instinctivly blew my C4. This is guesswork, but i at least got 6 of them with that. Then arty fell directly on the flag killing more, all while the mip was holding the gigantic onslaugh back as long as they could. Boms squad moved up in support as well as the tanks from squad 3. After a ridiculously long firefight, we got the gas station under control. While that firefight was going on, we did an awesome job moving west with squad 4 to get the power plant, and that kept bleed. Eventually power plant went down, but we had all eastern flags. How convenient! For the majority of the rest of the round all squads held their own pretty well, until they overran the south gas station again. After that i pretty much ditched the plan of holding the east side and i sent the 33rd and mip across the ravine to the power plant. It was really cool to see all the fights develop from my POV. It was truly a team defense (as opposed to squad defenses), and all the SLs took proper initiative without me having to say anything. For instance, beatnik covered the backyard a little more when the 33rd left, and the 33rd kept a few at the backyard when i told them to help at the gas station. The tank support was VERY spot on, and i rarely had to direct the tank to go anywhere because the tanker seemed to know where he was needed at any given time. From the last time i did this plan (october?), i think i improved on being more flexible with the plan and moving west. Something i coulda done better was in using the support squad. Im sure a lot of the time bom didnt really know where he was needed, and it partly came from communication errors and my indecision. Im curious how the fights developed from the ground pounders perspective, and if the sniper/.50 cal tandem at the hill was worth it? In songhua, i really liked the conservative nature of the plan. We held our back flags the entire time, which gave the squads on attack (who gave us bleed) a good base to start from. Our squad was often the one getting bleed, and it was pretty rough. We could hold flags pretty well, but eventually they would send their 'chute squad, and another ground squad with loads of armor. We got overran a lot. EDIT: Someone got screenshots of the end game scoreboard and best squad screens? |

I think an idea to consider is to have a 2 man sniper team, with very good snipers, on that building south east of the Mosque, if one plans to hold the east side as USMC. You can see 3 flags from there as well as both bridges, the arty area, the road between Hill and South Gas, the area under the watertower, and the hill south of the backyard. Of course, these guys won't be able to hold or take any flags, so they must be very efficient at picking off their targets.

Re: TG vs =GC=
Excellent and intense games tonight. As the 1st MIP we were stationed at the East Oilfields with the7th's Bom Squad and were essentially fighting for our virtual BF2 lives. It really felt like they were everywhere, always attacking from two or three directions at once. Our original mission was to act as a skirmish line and slow down their attacks across the USMC front but we could't break out and were forced to defend. GC did a good job using the hills to the North/Southwest to put covering fire down while troops moved in from those positions as well as a squad spawning to the East by the Oil rigs. As Santa said, it wasn't until the 7th assaulted the flag that fighting slowed down a bit and we were able to catch our breathes for a bit before they attacked again. It got harrowing at times but we were able to maintain possession of the East Oilfields the entire round. Excellent job by Shafik for pulling out the victory.
The 10 minute break was definitely a blessing as Mashtuur was just as frantic as Daqing. We barely had a chance to setup our defense at the South Gas Station before two vodniks and however many paratroopers assaulted our position. The fighting was desperate and we were soon overrun as whenever you killed one, two more of their guys would respawn. We lost the flag for a few minutes but with the help from the 33rd and the 7th we were able to retake the position and finally hunt down the remaining attackers. We were finally able to setup a defense, even using the blackhawk as a successful gun platform, which was so effective that their commander used artillery with sole purpose to destroy the blackhawk at least twice. After fighting off a couple of spirited attacks we were overrun by another massed attack and we were moved to the Powerplant to seal the victory. Terrific job commanding, Santa. I think we earned the relative calm of defending the Fish Factory after the first two rounds. We pretty much went untested for the 1st half of the map until once again GC delivered an order of paratroopers to our position. We were able to fight them off and hunt them down as they sought out hiding spots within the flag radius. We received help from the Irregulars during one of the attacks when it seemed like they were going to gain a foothold but again they were unable to hold up to multiple TG squads working together. The rest of the round featured a few more attacks but nothing major. The boys up front took the brunt of round as the 1st MIP enjoyed a relatively calm game behind the lines. Once again an excellent job commanding as well as planning by tybalt. Great games to all of those involved especially Bommando for the extra time and effort he put in to make the 2nd scrim in a week to run smoothly. Great job to fellow mippers (duke, coridon, grunt) as well as hambergler and wulfyn who commited their rifles to our squad. edit: yikes, I died 34 times in Daqing

Re: TG vs =GC=
I enjoyed playing in the Irregulars squad. Good work as our SL, Rick.
I would have been really upset if we had lost that first map. We just could not hold the refinery. It seemed like we were constantly under attack. We had a lot of help from our air assets, but it just was not enough. Thanks to whoever decided to pull us out of there and let us work on the other flags. Man, was that one close. After that Mashtuur seemed calmer even though we saw a lot of action north of the mosque. Shonghua was almost boring most of the time as the defensive strategy seemed to work perfectly. Great job everyone. Thanks to Bommando for getting this set up and to our COs and SLs.

Re: TG vs =GC=
Good points sordavie. I think the 2 man sniper team could be made by pulling one guy off of each the hill and backyard. Thatd mean all other squads would be 5 men (except for the north-field guys), but the snipers would more than make up for that not only in kills but spotting. Im surprised they didnt run into our killzones as much as TPF did. In TPF scrim they ran over the north field and the area near the backyard over and over and over. Thats why i suggested a sniper on the watertower, but they refused to attack through there unfortunately. Heh, if we play mashtuur in a scrim again, we gotta make sure both you and mantis sign up
![]() Ill give them some credit though. The best way to beat that defense is to attack the hill and south gas station simultaneously and in force. Had they gone for hill with half of the units they sent to south gas station, wed likely have lost at least one of them becuase wed have been stretched too thin. Oh and sorry for rebuking the mip at the end of mashtuur. Coridon was making fun of me, so i felt a grandmother joke was in order. |

Re: TG vs =GC=
For the games I played (Mashtuur and most of Songhua), it was probably my most enjoyable scrim yet. Squads were working well together and we were controlling the game most of the time in both. I saw some great assaults by the GC guys and great defenses by us on Mashtuur.
On Mashtuur, my squad (Wulfyn, IRS_Agent, dawolf, nox and I) stayed at the mosque most of the game, except for the assault on the Power Plant, which took a few waves to crack but we finally got, along with the T-90. We held that for about 10 minutes while a few infantry squads tried to assault us from the hotel, but finally got overrun by a squad of at least 3 ATs sliding down the hill to the west. After that we held the mosque, assisted by C4 and a couple other squads, for the rest of the game, except for a few gaps where they overpowered us, and had their guy on the roof. We always managed to push them back straight away, and I've got to commend my squad for working so flexibly and adapting to the new situations so quickly. Kit loadouts changed on a dime depending on our mission, and everyone executed their role extremely well. And Santa as CO kept us in a comfortable lead the entire game, calling out arty strikes and keeping the team fighting hard despite some aggressive moves by GC. Songhua was very fun in dawolf's 4 man squad hopping flags in the helo. I've definitely never been that mobile in a scrim but it was a blast, essentially jumping in to assist friendly squads in assaulting and defending flags before loading back up and flying off a minute or two later. Great job keeping us effective (and mobile) dawolf. Helping other squads to clear out contested flags was a blast, and 4 people was about the perfect squad size to essentially transport a fast moving fireteam. Tybalt as CO was definitely effective in keeping us busy and keeping the enemy on their heels. This was indeed a much needed win for me after my performance in the TG scrim - glad I was able to show up and get in on the action! It was a great showing by everyone on both sides, and hopefully we can play GC again. I think this was the most hassle-free scrim (not counting some annoying bunny hopping that I didn't mind as much as I thought I would) we've played yet, they were good competitors AND they kept at least 24 or so people around for game 3 after losing the first two. Also thanks to Bom and Tybalt for getting this all together on such short notice. ![]()

Re: TG vs =GC=
Great games, especially Mashtuur. There was a lot of bunnyhopping going around, and their team seemed to halo drop for entire rounds, but overall there was some pretty good action.

Re: TG vs =GC=
Well done to all involved and especially Bommando and Tybalt for their hard work with very limited time. Great job to the COs and SLs as usual you guys were well prepared and prepared your teams and squads to their fullest potential.
I didn;t get to play in the first two games but the ones who were waiting in the scrim waiting room were watching BF2tracker intentively so all those guys who stuck around in the waiting room, well at least we were there in spirit. When Songhua Stalemate showed up and GC need help 8 of us played for them. So from the perspective of the other side during Songhua I can say anywhere you went there was TG resistance. I decided to join with C4 sgt York because he was by himself in a squad and we weren't very effective. So we tried to attack the assets and ran into the 1MIP and the 33rd. Well that didn;t go well so we tried moving around and trying to keep pressure anywhere we could and every turn there was an APC or TG squad ready breathing hell fire and taking no prisoners. The other TG squad was forced to stay back and defend the Chinesse head quarters. Great job to TG for a well executed battle plan.
