Vanilla night

Had a great time..good seeing as many people as we did on Server1. As SL, my squads were awesome, we took best squat 3 of 4 times. Experiment was CO for the majority of time that I was SL, but I decided to ditch SL after 4 maps and hooked up w/ Rick the New Guy's squad for Mastuur. I gotta say Rick's squad was on point and his SL'ing was unquestionably at his finest. He always gave clear direction and was constantly aware of his surroundings making our job as squad members easy to accomplish our given task.

Edit*- I'm an idiot and retract all my earlier statements.

Re: Vanilla night

o.k. stuff.

kudos to x626 for being C.O. at Dragon Valley 64.

Exploding Silver (good chap from Birmingham England, that's the central location) joined up with me and we defended Refinery while the Platoon was pushing the enemy back to the docks. We were a little suprised that the ol' transport helo did not drop a whole mess of G.I.s on us. Later the squad filled up tons of action happened. Good stuff.

Mashturr City, Kilrogg at the helm. NorCal stopped over and got to work taking the Mosque and defending. I had a three man alpha team and three man bravo. Bravo plugged the wholes and we had some good caps and defends that were well managed by Kilrogg and the squad. Our best flag cap came at hill. We left south gastation and after three attackes we took it. we Also keept the enemy arty down and scanner (good work, Irr Foxoq). We held the flag until the end.

K Damn 64 was ruff. I never noticed it before but is it possible that maps were one side has a UCB and the other side does not, not work too well on TG server. Cause one side has advantage. They will never loose their jets/ choopers/ tanks/ and can keep their assests up with more ease. Just crashing the flag with three squads should be bread and butter for the team in their initial deployment (Transport chopper).
I know that having the flag were all the goodies spawns should be well defended and having tons of flags to begin with is the other side of the coin, but teams being balanced i'd like the team with the UCB over the team without one.

Re: Vanilla night

It's a good thing not one side dominated the whole night. (<- sarcasm).
Even though Mashturr was pretty balanced most of the maps were just lopsided. Kubra was a disaster. I would like to sincerely apoplogize to NorCal for it was I who voted the mutiny by accident. I went up to hit the kit tab up top and hit the mutiny button instead. I'm sorry to have ruined your night.

I just got off of Karkand where USMC I think took nearly all the flags within 5 minutes. That was alot of fun so I decided to call it a night.

Re: Vanilla night

I was under the impression that tonight was for getting a full server and possibly have some new players see what fun our server can be. Unfortunately on many a map one team had to push as hard as possible to as far as I can tell ruin the other teams night. Hope you guys had a blast. Couple more nights like tonight and I might as well play a pub.

Agree with you on that Jmaker. I played earlier and it seemed to be a pretty close game at 23-0 China but after that it was a joke. Karkand was just stupid with grenade and c4 spamming everywhere you turned. Spawn and get arty'd respawn get grenaded and on and on. MEC finally took the east side of the river back but it took the whole round. I think the score was around 300-00 hmm that's a close one.

Re: Vanilla night

Mashtuur was very fun even being on the losing side. I was in a sniper squad with mantis and we had a ton of teamwork rolling for us. Every shot that we made contact on wed report it, and most of the time one of us would direct our shooting to whoever was called out, and wed get kills. The best time was near the beginning. With constant communication we must have taken out 5 or 6 of them in a span of a minute or less.

Sharqi was pretty close. By no means a disaster for either side, as the MEC held enough flags throughout. Sorry for all the noob tubings :P

In karkand the reason the MEC lost was because their defense on the east side was non existent. Mantis drove a car across the bridge that wasnt destroyed. After a year of playing here, youd think no matter what, the MEC would destroy the bridge and C4/mine the landbridge at the very, very least. If the MEC let the USMC across so incredibly easy, you cant help but to expect a blowout.

EDIT: We filled the server with 62 players (i think we still have 2 reserved slots for SMs).

Re: Vanilla night

This was the most fun I've had in BF2 in months. It seemed like Opfor had problems coordinating their defense at times, otherwise they put up a spirited fight.

Re: Vanilla night

Karkand was kind of a mess, but I believe that was a result of all the flags on the 64 player version and only 22-24 players on a side.

Re: Vanilla night

Tonight was a mixed night for me. I can tell some people were making a good attempt to keep things balanced and fun (i.e. splitting up in house squads, switching teams, telling teammates to back off), but I think a lot of people tonight were a tad bit too aggressive. There was also a bit of smacktardary rolling around with a certain, few players.

Tried my hand at leading again on Mashtuur, and who would have thunk, we started winning the round AFTER I gave up. Thanks to those who stuck around with me, and thanks to P8triot for enticing them to stay. It was nice having the same squad for 4 rounds!

Here's to the USMC Defense squad!

RoboCop, MeetMyM4A1, AZA2001, Elmeistro, Sneakers!

P.S. - Yes, I do know who the Village People are!

That was by far the best time I had COing in forever. I would have thought we would roll over them, especially after Duke racked up an impressive air strike count! Wasn't to be. It got to stressful for me at a 20-0 victory I had to step down, thanks Kilrog for taking it. To all SLs, props men!!

I'd say the reason the round went so poorly was due to inorganization early in the game. As CO on Karkand when it started, we had 9 1-3 man squads, after the dropoff from Sharqi left us with a bunch of small squads. By the time everyone grouped up we had every squad on the west side but one four man squad, with them starting to work on the choke points. About a minute later (maybe 6 or 7 minutes in) USMC had the Gatehouse then everything went into disarray. We never got a chance to get set, and were rolled over. Also there were several squads leaving their set defensive positions with flags quickly falling behind them, which apparently also happened the round before. I literally thought my mic wasn't working, and asked two squads if they could in fact hear me. It was unfortunate that I didn't have my laptop unpacked from work with BF2CC or TS running.

All of which makes for a helluva game for the USMC. I did what I could to keep us in it, and at least had fun dropping lots of arty into crowded CPs, but otherwise it was a tough game all around for the MEC.

Re: Vanilla night

I had a great time last night, it felt like the good old days when the server was full all night with TG goodness.

Very early in the evening it was Oman 16 players, Robo killed Penguineer & me with 2 head shots in a split second. Incredible.
Then we respawned, hunted him down, then gave him a teabagging of a lifetime ! lol

I had two rounds with my fellow European Dawolf SLing, Oman we dominated (Glory) , then FuShe Pass we were dominated (Frustrated)

I enjoyed meeting & talking to Rick on Dragon, after I have read so many of his numerous posts.

On Mashur Exper626 was SL, always a thrill with Exper626, then he mysteriously left and I was SL for a few minutes,
it was then 3am for me and I asked for a new SL, I think it was one of the 33rd guys who stood up,
I said create a squad with a humerous name and we'll all join it, he created squad "HUMEROUS"
that made me laugh, then I called it a night at 3.30am

EDIT: I'm loosing track here, it was Bane SLing on Mashur, Exper626 must have been another map......my memory goes in the early hrs

Re: Vanilla night

definately had some good games. After i lost connection during Kubra, i figured id call it a night. Highlight - When Bane flew our squad in the transport helo to Hill on Mastuur and we instantly blew up in the air. We're all like what the hell just happened?!?!?

"We ran into the UAV"

"Ok, im flying this time"

Too bad you weren't on TS to tell me this, I would've given another 2 minutes before start

The USMC took a few beatings too (Oman, Mashtuur) so it's not like they were dishing it out all night. The best round by far was Dragon Valley. We barely peaked at a full server, and it wasn't for long unfortunately. I thought we'd have more people for longer. We were over 50 when it came to Karkand, and when the map loaded and started, we lost about 8 players. Not sure why, there wasn't even time for anyone to know it was going to be a USMC blowout, they just left.
