8/2 Wed AAR

I jumped on tonight during Dalian Plant. For most of the round it was me, Wimpinator and P8triot and later Blood we tried attacking Main Entrance but were met by a tank and a good number of infantry. After the other squads were able to take control of the reactor towers we decided to hunker down and defend at construction site. There was some fierce fire fights on the different levels of the two buildings as we tried to hold off a number of assaults as the Chinese continued to lead the map. Unfortunately we were unable to maintain our position and were forced to redeploy elsewhere. It was here that I made the mistake of leading the assault on the construction that turned out to cap the Chinese off the map. I could use the excuse of not knowing the ground rules, which I didnt, but I'd be lying if I didnt want to ensure a comeback victory though apparently the Chinese had kept us in the game.

Zatar was a blast. After figuring out the groundrules (only fight over the center flag) I led my squad from the south as the other USMC squads approached from the East/Northeast. Bleak and EO joined our squad to round out the squad. We got pinched in the first assault as units we killed on the initial push respawned behind us and the defenders counterattacked. We attacked from the south again but this time Blood manned the tank and was able to hold off the APC to the south as we moved in up the hill and attacked as the other squads pushed in. After finally clearing out the last defenders I set the squad to sort of float around as the other squads faced the MEC push from the East/Southeast. Our role essentially became to counter any flanking attacks. As the round progressed we countered the attacks better each time, even when armor was assisting the attacking squads. The highlight was when part of the squad (I think Wimp, EO and Bleak) setup the anvil against the assaulting squad from the front as P8triot and I swung around and hammered the assaulting the squad between the two fireteams. Excellent job to the rest of the USMC for a job well done defending.

Fu-She pass started and the USMC squads were all over the place and not coordinating at all. I took it upon myself to try to command but I dont think I helped much as it wasnt until after I lost my connection and searched the forums here that I found how to talk to individual squads. I also think my artillery barrages were off a bit(Edit: I dont know if I was out of line to use Artillery or not, the server was over 32 but just in case I am sorry). While I was leading, if you can call it that, squads 1, 2, 3 worked with me as much and more then I couldve asked for.

Re: 8/2 Wed AAR

Tonight was fun....until Smoke Screen came up. We had 30+ and then down to below 19. Thanks to whoever changed the map shortly after that round began.

On Zatar I was surprised we held that central flag for pretty much the entired round. Even though that was the only flag we were fighting over. We had a solid defense set up outside the perimieter. Bleak's squad did a fantastic job countering any flanking attacks, while we were up on the east-southeast side.

Others were mentioning something about being dynamic and trying different styles of play, so on Mashturr I decided to go sniper for the whole round. I can see why Santa and sordavie are so deadly with that weapon. It was actually alot of fun. I ended up with -19 teamwork points so I need to work on the placement of my claymores. Like not right on the flag. Sorry about that Sawviper. So yeah I'm going to try and play sniper and spec ops alot more now.

Re: 8/2 Wed AAR

I decided to command for my first two maps:

Forget which maps they where havn't played them in awhile. Props to whoever my Squad 3 was with the refrinery and Wood yard. We just couldn't get the squads to work for the chinese on that map. I hesitate to blame the chopper or artillery...i think we were really out classed to begin with.

We did better on the previos map with WEST and EAST mine pretty much in our posesion. Good cordination with my squads and real good effort by squad 1 which I think was run by a new TGer. You guys did well!! LOL just wish i could see names as commander.

I tried to keep the arty down with a mutual commander agreement, but lack of communication on mine and |TG|-=Spears=- part. Don't think it really mattered as when he started using it, we were pretty well beat. No harm no foul Spears Better Commander won.

Some newbie TGers wanted to mutiny me so I stepped down then chided 1 of them to step up to the position...I know I shouldn't rub it in Deathmask signed up and was doing fine, not sure how much experience he had, and I think the other SLs were riding him pretty hard by the bits of conversation I caught. Just a reminder guys, we need to take it easy on New guys...especially Commanders. I did clue him in on a few TG commander stuff (like try not to fight, especially from a vehicle) very receptive and thanked me for the help, he was not aware.

Went Lone Wolf for my last one with refinery and cisterns...I'd like to think i gave greater than my number grief with my constant assaults If i didn't...lie to me guys, make me feel better

Re: 8/2 Wed AAR

Aculle said it well and kindly left out the parts about me being a medic I keep trying, love doing it when ya need it.. but BOY do I SUCK at it.

Santa was a menace whenever he showed up - especially when I came in at Dalian Plant and we were working on Main Entrance. He _ JUST _ WOULDN'T _ DIE!!! I finally 1 - shotted him which inspired the text message "LUCK".. so I responded a little bit later with another. There was also someone else that was with him a lot that was a real pain in the.. umm.. neck.. the name escapes me now though.

Once we dug in at Zater we were pretty well set.. I got into the pattern of 'looking for the sneak attack', I'd look over the assaulting force and see if it looked like a squad was 'missing' - if so.. sprint to the other side of the hill and every time would find a squad working their way toward us. Aculle and I could then keep them busy with good positions until the rest of the defensive force could finish up their business and react. A few times we were able to interrupt the flanking maneuver entirely.

Good times!

Re: 8/2 Wed AAR

Yeah I had a lot of fun last night in that squad. Inspired by another thread I played medic most of the evening. I can count the number of times I've played that kit on one hand. It was not pretty. I was dying so regularly that I had another medic pretty much following me to revive me. I enjoyed it though.

I took some time off from being a medic and also did a couple rounds of serious sniping last nite. Pretty fun and I actually got best sniper on two of the maps I played Wasn't too difficult to attain 10 to 1 kill/death ratios. Will definitely be sniping more often!

It SUCKED trying to fight off OVERWHELMING air superiority especially when they kept denying our air assets by C4-ing them constantly but keeping their helicopters in the air, as there was also a mutual no chopper agreement according to my SL. The American side HAMMERED us with arty and we were told we couldn't request because of a commander agreement. They broke both rules and won the map and everyone in our squad was wondering what the hell?? Where's the CO?

These mutual agreements need to clearly relayed to the SL's so they can in turn inform their men, otherwise the fight goes from fun to frustrating to infuriating.

And thanks for the kind words about CO'ing Dalian, you're right, I don't have enough experience but the squads tried their best to follow thru on their orders, well done squads! Oh yeah, I was stuck in a firefight when i applied as CO so that's why I was fighting when i accepted the position.
