Monday night 14-Aug, Oman/Dalian/Dragon

Oman, Dalian, Dragon Valley as USMC

First off, thanks much to my squads for these three maps:
Oman = asch, ChiefRocscooter, PumaZ-fa, Grandpa2, Lazysack
Dalian = asch, ChiefRocscooter, PumaZ-fa, Grandpa2, Lazysack
Dragon = asch, PumaZ-fa, Barracuda_Magoo, Lord_Zarfax, Elmeistro1

I went a little heavy on defense tonight so there were time when we didn't see so much action and I appreciate you guys sticking it out through the round.

Oman and Dalian were almost mirror image games. On Oman we had MEC pinned to one capturable CP for most of the round, and despite a good pummeling from the air (that's redundant when talking about Oman isn't it ) we staved off their attacks. USMC win. Kudos to Merlin1015

Dalian was the opposite. PLA wouldn't let the USMC out of South Docks or Reactor, and ended up owning Reactor from time to time as well. Merlin1015, our CO had us attacking for a third CP for a good part of the game but decided to hold at 2 due to the ticket loss we were suffering in the attacks. Even though the PLA did attack us in our defended positions as the CO intended, we were too far behind by then. PLA win.

Dragon Valley was disjointed...well, no CO for that round as well. I tried to take my squad straight to the Hill Village CP for (what I figured would be) a steady diet of action. Well, then it was Farmhouse, then tried for Power Station but ended up pinned in Woodyard. Most irritatingly memorable moment for me was going up against Sumluv (who had a sniper kit) in the woods south east of Hill Village...I was making him dance by chucking grenades at him (snipers can be dangerous you know) when some badly timed lag left me victim to his one grenade. He may have got me anyway...but still. Damn lag

Thanks for games tonight guys!

Cheers.

Yeah, Oman was tough. Our small squad of 3 with DB as SL me and franko1? Did managed to flip the Olive once (along with another aquad), but it is very difficult to hold as we are then attacked both from the west and the east. We tried many times just trying to get past the railroad with some success but we were no where near any flags. I think the MEC lost by 250+ tickets.

I only played Oman as USMC, our squad successfully defended River Fort. We were mostly getting harrassed from above, but we staved off a few ground pushes from the warehouse. I was the whore in the boat on the .50.

Tough indeed! Thanks for sticking with me through the round guys.

Good games last night. There was a good population, some COs stepped up, and while a bit air heavy, the games were quite fun!

Yeah, last night was great fun! Felt like old times!!

I SL'd a few rounds (Mashtuur and whatever was before that?) Had a great squad on both maps - great teamwork and great contributions from some new faces!

(did anyone get screens of those two maps? I'd like to give props my squad, but I honestly forgot all the names )

Re: Monday night 14-Aug, Oman/Dalian/Dragon

I only played Sharqi in Grunt's squad but it was a pretty fun round. The final score ended up being 8-0 or something with the MEC pulling out a late minute bleed victory.

Shout out to Dark Viper for plopping C4 on my tank from atop the roof across from Construction Site and blowing me to pieces. I knew it was coming at some point

That was hilarious Goat. I had no idea how I survived that…now I know. What’s even funnier to me that a few minutes later I got into the same grenade volley with Bane and I wound up surviving that one too. I guess the “lag” gods were smiling on me for a change.

I have to give props to the squad I reluctantly lead on Dragon Valley. Bane was the original leader of squad 4 but he crashed his desktop early on so I was next in line. Ironically we went head to head with our ex squad leader at the hill village when he logged back on. There was some serious trash talking on the 33rd channel.

The Hill Village was non-stop action and I lead squad 4 to their deaths a bunch of times. I apologize if I get these names wrong but I just wanted to thank Clawhammer, Reader (who sounds exactly like experiment), Blonov, Master Editor&chief and well…the last name escapes me. The bottom line is we won, we earned best squad and more importantly I got the last laugh on the 33rd teamspeak channel.

Dragon Valley...
icky: "Heads up SL, Beatnik is an SL on the other side, and he will attack the Refinery."

E-male:"Roger that, let's defend Refinery."

Easy read.

Those were some fun battles.

I must say I was surprised that Sumluv was the squad leader. I was hunting him down and when I opened fire on him, I had hit another enemy player. I didnt know where the other guy came from, so I decided to start tossing grenades to clear the area. It wasnt until I saw Sumluv move away from the grenade that I saw someone spawn right next to him and get blown away by my grenade. The shock of seeing Sumluv as SL gave him the opening to kill me.

The other gentleman in your squad was Duke if I remember correctly. I did have a merry time killing your squadmates over and over again. Props to Thundeer who was leading us at the Hill Village. We had some good fights there.

LOL! Hey…a kill is a kill and I’ll take one any way I can.

Sorry for forgetting about Duke.

LOL You got that right jack.

We were going to go for the direct assault, but I figured we'd give the defense a chance to set up first, so we went for the base just to its north first...where someone was waiting for us on the AA and took out my full BH. At that point I figured it was ok to assault Refinery. Those first couple skirmishes were great - it was really tough wrestling that CP away, and seeing faces like DarkViper, Mantis, icky, etc. there wasn't encouraging. Somehow we got control of it and held it for a few, but since we kept leaving armor open (and had no CO the entire game) you guys got it back relatively easily.

Still, that's probably my favorite CP to assault. Glad to see infantry and armor waiting for us when we finally got down there.

As for the rest of the games, I got to gun for Barracuda on Oman in the attack helo and the framerate gods were smiling on me, as I was actually able to kill people that game. Fortunately for the guys on the ground, we were kept busy with the other attack helo most of the game, though we did get some good armor kills. Very little infantry whoring on our part, though I probably got 4 or 5 guys on foot throughout the game.

Dalian was just a cluster...something for USMC. Our air was discombobulated, with no dedicated air squad until Cymba formed one up half way through, and we got pwned on the ground by two merciless J-10s. For 51 players on a 32 player map with 2 J-10s in the air, we should have made some kind of adjustment (either give USMC J-10's or take out the air entirely), because USMC spent most of the round spawning and dying due to bombs falling. But it was still fun, and great to see good action on the server on Monday.

And props to all our Global Conflict (=GC=) friends who showed up. Those guys brought their A-game and really increased the quality of play last night.

Re: Monday night 14-Aug, Oman/Dalian/Dragon

I had fun under goat's leadership... even on defense since I'm usually a SL who sticks to defense.

The only problems I had was the zerging that happened during the first few minutes of the rounds, especially on stalemate. Within the first 90 seconds China had blitzed the USMC down to one flag.... and in under two minutes USMC had taken the Chinese main base. Only four Chinese players had even spawned!

This is not utilizing real-world combat strategy and tactics. This style of play goes against the TG primer by taking advantage of the game limitations. Let's work on breaking out of these habits.

I think it was me that took the grenade for Sumluv, cause I remember looking up and seeing your name in front of mine, of course that happened a few more time but I think we might have ballenced out in the end

As for sounding like experiment, it is the other way around. I am 8 years older than him and he spent most of that time learning everything from me. Now, I take no responsibility for his actions, he lives and dies (at the end of my rifle quite often I should mention) on his own.

I think you might want a chance to edit your post dear Uncle. It seems you are confused as to whom "schooled" whom. Perhaps it is the onset of advanced aging. I understand memory is the first to go...how sad
