another interview
Battlefield 2142 Interview with Colin Clarke - Planet Battlefield
Some really good stuff in there. a snippet - "By making the Defibrillator into an unlock item. How do you view this as promoting teamwork when there is an injured player that needs healing or a revive but no one can accomplish this since it is only available as an unlock? Colin: The Defib unlock is a first tier unlock for the assault kit. This makes it easily accessible after only a few rounds. Talented players will be able to achieve their first unlock in a single round. Forcing players to choose this as an unlock will force players to be more thoughtful about what type of player they want to be. Making the conscious decision to choose something that is directly focused on helping his teammates means that the player will be more active in using this tool to help his team. Also this player will then be a higher value as a support player in a squad. This thought process is a major step to ensure that players are able to customize their role in the Battlefield experience." See, you can get the defib within a round or 2...no biggie. |

Re: another interview
I hope that their talk about encouraging team play is backed up by meaningful game dynamics
like; loosing side has individual scores halved top squad has individual points doubled teamplay to unlocks release top squad squad leader has his points quadrupled if SMers are more than 30m from SL or SL waypoint then kills dont get points the general principle here is to link teamplay to unlocks & ranks the best bit of the article is the defib quote from Snail, there is an idea there but its not enough I reckon to force/encourage teamplay boy am i going to be busy on EA feedback forum, the way i see it if I get the game for free one month early, then I am going to return the favour

Re: another interview
I spend a lot of time over on EA GAMES™ :: Index.
Those forums are a lot better than the main EA forums and you'll get better response.

Re: another interview
That's alright then, I generally don't play ranked, but I can do a couple of rounds to get the defibs
