Question Are these sniper rifles or SMGs with incredible accuracy?

I think they went a bit overboard with the rate of fire for the sniper rifles...the only thing holding them back is the clip size.

On the other hand the support weapon has become nothing more than area suppression tool...AS IF SUPPRESSION MAKES ANY DIFFERENCE.

Still, not bad for 1.0, but I hate it nonetheless for making people ditch TacMod.

And does anyone know why GER medic has a scoped rifle whereas UKR medic has a piece of iron bar with a notch in it?

The heavy machine guns have the kick they are supposed to have. So when you shoot, the barrel will definitely rise. I've switched to firing burst because of it. It will just take some getting used to the new handling before I will be back to just spraying again. However, the RPK has single shot (not sure about the MG-36). I've found you have amazing accuracy and damage when using that mode. Totally changes the way you play the kit. Sure the POE support kit handles differently, but I dont think it's useless.

I noticed tonight that the climbing effect is reduced and the support gun is more accurate when you use the iron sights. I was in a position where I had to crouch, and I found it quite useful until someone saw me, then I had to hide.

Also, don't forget that you can shoot through all kinds of materials with that support gun.

The sniper rifles seem a bit much. I have very little experience with sniping, but I was able to easily double-tap guys with the SVD at medium-long range.

Snipers are overpowered, I've brought this up in the POE channel and they apparently want them that accurate. There's almost no recoil on the shots and seemingly zero deviation from moving your crosshair. In BF2 to get an accurate long range shot w/ the SVD you need to stop moving your crosshair for like half a second before firing, but on that anti-air nest map we played I could just follow targets and fire accurately like in Counter-Strike.

Re: Are these sniper rifles or SMGs with incredible accuracy?

Snipers are overpowered but I dont mind the rate of fire, its the accuracy that bothered me. I got a 44 24 kill-death ratio with the sniper, and I am by no means a "sniper." I'm lucky to break even with that kit, on a good day. I hope this is adressed, but if it's not, I can live without it. There are a lot of snow maps where the snipers stand out like sore thumbs, so they are easy to combat.

However the support guns are quite effective. The ukraine gun has a fair bit of stoping power, while the germans get a scope. They worked pretty well for me - just fire them from prone.

I think if they increased the recoil, itd be fine. The best way to counter the sniper is to first find out where he is, and second fire as many bullets in his direction as possible. Its crazy how much you can damage someone and scare them off, especcialy if they dont have body armor.

I think all the rifles and guns in POE do more damage than in Vanilla (except the Ukrainian AT gun). If shot in Vanilla you seem to have a change to recover or know you are getting hit before you go down. In POE you are dead as soon as the second or third bullet hits.

I think he's trying to trick us into looking around and firing wildly instead of running off like a madman so he can calmly put more bullets into us from far away...

Anyway, given the size of the maps and the wild terrain POE definitly encourages more sniping rather than less. It's just wrong to have 2 or more snipers in a squad on average.

I'm not complaining about the snipers as much as I am about the Assault Rifles. Those things are as accurate or more than the SpecOps rifle and can fire like a sniper's accuracy.

I would certainly hope that a rifle is more accurate than a carbine!

I haven't had a good chance to really test out the sniper rifles yet; it seems like whenever I go sniper, the server starts lagging and the warping begins. Needless to say, it's nearly impossible to hit people when they teleport like crazy

So you're the one who's doing it. Quit playing sniper, man!

Oddly, you had no problem at all one-shotting me at point blank range while I waited for my knife hit to register on you last night.

Yeah they do. I've died from 1 hit of the G36 assault gun many times, while moving. It might not be the damage, but the guns have less spread/deviation while firing. In BF2 once you start taking damage you usually have time to react because the guns have a lot of recoil but in POE if you're taking damage and you aren't also returning fire at the same time, you're dead.

Hehe, I remember that. I turned around and saw you, then fired 4 or 5 rounds randomly while unzoomed. Must've been a lucky shot
