Shout out to the TG Style Squad

I joined E-Male's TG Style Squad sometime around 10:00 p.m. last night and got bumped to SL... I had just SL 2 maps in a row and asked for someone else to do it but there were no takers so I continued on.

I think the maps were Rolling Thunder and Sumir (sp) We had Mantis as commander on the first map and we were assigned defense of the rail yard. We were under attack for most of the map by mixed armor and infantry with an occaisional attack chopper thrown in to make it interesting. We also faced well placed artillery and were harrassed by snipers most of the map (probably the arty spotter)

The squad was tight on defense. We lost the flag a couple of times only to come roaring back each time to retake the flag. We had excellent comms from Mantis who spotted the sniper several times for us to eliminate. We gained the lead after overcoming a 100 ticket deficit and then won the round at the end by about 50 tickets.

On Sumir (sp?) We raced to take the Chicken Farm and then the next farm to the west. Intially we held both but only for a short time. Fighting was fierce and unrelenting. Soon we had bleed and so we held only Chicken Farm while holding off the enemy attack from the flag to the west...These two flags are only 100 or so meters apart so the fighting was fast and furious.

The enemy continued to attack but we held strong and we killed many of the attackers which I belive was key to gaining a ticket lead. The map ended with UKR bringing it home again by about 50 tickets. (Don't get me wrong - win or lose it doesn't matter to me but its an aar report so I think there is a place for reporting the score)

The real reason for my post tonight is to send a thanks to each of the squad members who served in my squad for these two rounds. I think most of them were fairly new so I'd like to say thanks to the newcomers and also to those who have been on the TG server in the past. You all followed orders to the letter, communicated well with the other squad members and generally fought like hell on these two maps.

Now that's what we like to see at TG. Thanks Guys !!

List of Squaddies follow:

Grunt (SL)
Sigarms357
Dr Ares
Nailgun
Evaunit 05
Marce1

Thanks fellas...you can play in or on my squad anyday.

Re: Shout out to the TG Style Squad

I really enjoyed commanding Rolling Thunder. After a rough start I started to get a solid plan in motion and we slowly ate away at the 150 ticket deficit to pull out the win in the end. Pretty much all the squads were responsive...I think my only issue was with the chopper squad who seemed slow to react to my orders now and then. I will note that I don't know if we would have won before the timer ran out if squad 5 had not taken the initiative and taken the bridge camp flag to create a heavy bleed. Props to them for that. GG

Re: Shout out to the TG Style Squad

My squad had an odd battle at the far north flag. I was in the barnish looking building thats about 3 stories high. The flag was constantly artilleryed and eventually 3-4 armor pieces overran us. We must have stayed in that building for 5 or more minutes, hearing all the armor shell us. But they couldnt really do much to us, and we kept a full squad back there shelling us. Eventually we started to bleed so i figured id jump out the window and see what would happen, but no dice.

Great job COing, Mantis. This map was my favorite of the night.

I was leading Squad 5, which I had set up as a "Learn TG" squad earlier in the evening. Initially we moved southeast with the intent of quickly capturing the flag in that quadrant of the map. We were nearly there when we ran into stiff armored resistance and had to fall back to the west. After suffering some very intense chopper and armor attacks, we were able to settle in for a few minutes and defend a fairly quiet flag in the southwest quadrant of the map. It was then the idea of my squad members (RocketPunch in particular, I believe) to push on the central Bridge flag and capture it, and so I stayed back at our assigned flag in the rear while they all pushed up. They took Bridge, and they did a fabulous job of maintaining a hold on it despite heavy arty, chopper, tank, and infantry bombardment. RocketPunch and I ferried tanks from our UCB to the Bridge flag to provide reinforcements. There were a few times when the enemy nearly pushed us off the flag, but we held.

I had a few TGers in the squad over the night, along with several solid pubbies (who, hopefully, will be TGers soon ). Thanks to all of you for some great teamwork! I hope to see you on the server again soon.

Thumbs up Re: Shout out to the TG Style Squad

Yeah, that was a great round. Thanks to Strag for some amazing SL'ing and teamwork of all the member in his squad. I must say the AT kit is just too fun and effective for defence aginest armor. At one point we can see columns of armors coming from north and west but with the mine field setup by the 4 of us AT guys, none of them are able to charge the flag.

I say most of our deaths are from BHacks chopper. (>_<")

Re: Shout out to the TG Style Squad

I can't believe we lost that map. I was supporting my troops in the euro Tiger, dropping armor like it was going out of style. We had a commander, but he didn't have a mic and the communication just wasn't there.

I was having my way with your tanks until someone figured out where the stinger pick up kit was.... That thing is annoying as hell. Because the launcher is not only mobile, but not a vehicle that shows up on my hud. I am trying to find a tiny, constantly moving AA site. argh.

That would have been Giggin7 (I believe that's the correct spelling of his name) who was causing you trouble with the AA pick-up kit. He didn't have a mic, but he did a fine job.

Re: Shout out to the TG Style Squad

I was with RocketPunch and Strag in their squad for a few maps last night. Good job squad leading Strag, you were outstanding. All I can remember was on Rivine where we had 5 AT's and 1 support near the end of the round battling on the eastern side of the map. That was kind of crazy. Orel was a hell of a lot of fun with the infantry battles between the church, the lumbermill and the farm.
