8/30/06 POE 9pm PDT
Well I decided to give the ole CO chair a test drive tonight in POE and I had fun. I had some good squads that were communicating and very responsive to orders. I can't remember the map but it was a close close game coming down to just a few tickets deficit! We just couldn't seem to get a good foot hold on the map.
Bommando was SL for squad 4 and he was busy the whole night running back and forth trying to defend and assist at other flags. There was a ton of armor over there and it was a see saw battle the whole time. Mantis was lethal in his jet as usually causing havoc Squad 1 and 2 was tasked to try and take and hold the center control point, Town I believe and it was a blood bath and they held it long enough so we could set somethings up on the other CPs. Once they lost the Town I tried to set up a killing zone by taking all the outside CP. So squad 4 and 2 tried to distract and harass the Town CP while squad 1 broke off and took the CP to the SW of town. Then squad 2 moved to the Outpost flag that is right in front of the German UCB. We had the four outside CPs but we just couldn't hold them. Thanks to all the SL for their efforts tonight and I hope I wasn't too bad being the CO. I think I would like to give it another shot. You really do keep yourself busy even when you don't have Arty and Scan capabilities

Great work Drizzid. Very good close game.
One thing that became very apparent on the armour-heavy maps is that it may be a good idea to have smaller 3-man dedicated armour squads. Our squad picked up what armour there was in the UCB, so it didn't go unused, but it was actually very difficult to cap a flag that way, because the infantry could surround you in the buildings so well. You really do need infantry support to make a concerted assault on a crowded flag. Tybalt also reamed both air and ground targets with that mobile AA. |

Re: 8/30/06 POE 9pm PDT
That UKR bomber is just nasty. There was just tons of armor to bomb all over the place and that plane sure does the job. The trick is to get good at your bombing accuracy and then start dropping one bomb at a time. The bombs are so deadly that just one easily takes out a tank. So if you see multiple targets on a run you can just drop one bomb on each target. Plus the guns just obliterate choppers. Anyway....nice round. Was a close one.
