Sept 6 POE, Germans

Battle of Sambir (German)

I was leading a squad of six members, including marstein, DaVinci, elmeistro, Sgt. Pepper, Garth Merengi and various others throughout the night.

We spawned at the South Farm on this map and held this position until game over. I'm proud to say that we held control of the CP for about 90% of the game time.

We started out under heavy infantry assault, mainly from the flags in the north and things were pretty hectic, we almost got pushed off. Thanks to my sharpshooting teammates however, we repelled all assaults.

We then began to suffer from repeated attacks by enemy armour, usually showing up in force and at the top of the hill that overlooks the South Farm from the north. The squad was re-configured in an anti-armour defensive role, with 4 AT kits at all times, plus supporting kits as necessary. It also helped that there is a pickup AT kit in the main building at the South Farm.

During this time, I kept trying to send some armour to support the action over at the south west CP just outside our UCB but repeated enemy air strikes kept thwarting our assistance. I think that CP remained Ukrainian all game.

Between our AT infantry and the tank that spawns at this location, we continued to repel enemy armour assaults; there was one tense action where two MBTs and one APC came over that mountain attempting to dislodge us. It almost worked but since they had no close infantry support we were able to overcome them as well. That was the last major action we saw at that flag - I think the Ukrainians got sick of losing their toys. We ended up winning the map by a solid margin. Good job squad - you were disciplined and versatile and you took not one step backwards!

Carpathians (German)
The next map I was glad to see that most of my squadmates stuck around. This engagement saw my squad take a more offensive role, concentrated on the North Cabin and the NorthEast Farm capture points (unsure of real names of those CP's).

We had a good firefight with a rival squad over the North cabin, where we took high ground over the road on approach from the west. We remained at this position with line of fire facing east, not moving in to capture the flag. Though we had no commander, Squads 1 and 6 took advantage of this to move in from the opposite direction and claim the flag. Well done, 1 and 6.

After some more attacks, we took up defensive position at North Cabin where we came under heavy infantry fire from the same place we had been attacking - the roles were suddenly reversed! I had to leave the game to avoid wife aggro at this point but I'm confident that you guys continued to make them pay for that CP in blood.

Re: Sept 6 POE, Germans

Carpathian Mountains is probably my favorite map. Doesn't hurt that I had another very enjoyable round on that map that night. I guess it was not the round you are referring to based on your post time...I think this came later in the evening.

As Ukraine we moved first for the far western flag and after securing it eventually moved on the North Cabin. I love defending that flag as Ukraine so I had my guys stay there the rest of the round. I think we may have lost in once or twice but quickly took it back each time. Its just such a great flag to setup armor ambushes and I love watching my troops do that. Steelo racked by 37 kills as AT that round by doing that most of the time. The enemy just didn't learn...they kept driving armor up that winding road and if they didn't hit the mines then they got nailed by the AT rounds when they stopped. In between those armor pushes we also pushed back lots of infantry pushes by using the hills as a height advantage. Just nice work from everyone in my squad....Icky, cantpick, twilight, paperchase and steelo.
