Theyre addressing the disconnects

Looks like theyre fixing it...see, no worries.

http://bf2142fever.com/

EA/Dice have gone and updated their official site letting us know they are working to resolve the disconnect issues found in the demo.

We are aware that some players are experiencing disconnects while playing the Demo. Please know we are running checks and making enhancements to our support systems so that these disconnects can be solved as quickly as possible.

**Update: According to DICE the issue was with the way the account server checked your account and the increased stress on the EA.com servers due to the high amount of players. They have now stated the issue should be resolved by a set of server upgrades they have done on the EA.com account verification end.

The issue was related to the account activity checks that the master servers send to players while they are logged in. These checks exist so the server can know when your account has lost connection so that it may de-activate the account so you can log in again. The thought is that a player will not send responses to a query if their connection goes out so we need to close the account so you can log back in.

Anyways because so many people jumped into the demo the EA.com account servers were not able to cope with the stress. Now that the EA techs have added more servers and made a account server patch upgrade the issues should be eliminated. Please let us know if you continue to experience any additional problems.

LOL
so the problem for players was actually a compliment for EA, so many of them were logging in, EA have a spin department like a political party does

Re: Theyre addressing the disconnects

Welp, I'm done with the demo. Haven't been able to play more than 2 minutes at a time and I've tried probably 20 times now.

same deal...highly underwhelmed with the demo. Don't get me wrong...glad all those who like it do. Map stinks, world is dreary, no teamwork and I can't figure out what the hell to do half the time....on top of that I disconnect from the EA Master Server every 5 minutes. No too fulfillling.

Plus...I don't get it...how can some players play and play and not get disconnected while others cant stay on long enough to enjoy or learn the game. Doesn't sound like a traffic issue to me...sounds like bug issues instead.

Ya ya negative nellie, I know....I know...

EXACT same problem in retail. Such crap.

edit: Work around for me was to put my computer in the DMZ on my router. Not a long term solution at all!

Perry ...do we have any hardware similarities that might be a clue.

Asus A8n5x
AMD X2 4800+
EVGA 7900GT
Corsair XMS 2 X 1GB
Antec 550 W Power supply
Audigy 2ZS Gamer
Logitech G5 mouse
Logitech multimedia keyboard.
Netgear router

@B--Cmon--you call me a basher when I report on my disconnect problems in a thread that is about the disconnect problem? I even said I don't begrudge the guys who like it. Granted, nobody asked for my list of the other negative elements, but I'm not bashing here, just reporting objectively. Disconnects every 5 minutes...How do you put any other spin on that but negative? With Perry reporting disconnects continuing...I'm staying away from this title. I'm glad you like it..but it's just not looking too positive from my point of view.

Re: Theyre addressing the disconnects

CRAP - i decided to download it expecting the title of this thread to be true. not the case. o_0

Maybe it has something to do with which ports are forwarded in the router or something?

edit: I know what the DMZ in Korea is - what's it in router world?

Re: Theyre addressing the disconnects

I'm pretty sure that just means that the router's firewall won't affect connections going to and from that area, so it has no protection, besides the computer firewall.

Go in to your router settings and there should be something for DMZ.. maybe an applications & gaming tab or something. It's definitely port forwarding because putting your computer in the DMZ is essentially forwarding every port to it. I've messed around with forwarding several of the ports that they say you need, but haven't had any success. Would rather play than jack around with things
