Oct 7 CO's Video and Report: Battle of Sambir

E-Male as CO for Germany (appox 11pm)

Co Screen video at:
http://www.tacticalsites.com/~e-male/

We lost by 94 points.

This map was played with never more than three squads of any significant size. Three to four other squads were all or mostly air. That many men devoted to airpower was a waste, as airpower cannot take or keep a flag.

As a result, for 22 minutes we failed to hold more than two flags -- ensuring our defeat.

Question:

Can a CO order an airsquad to step down?

I should have been more assertive and demanded that two or three of the airsquads refit as infantry into one medium-sized squad. Getting non-TGers to follow such orders might be a challenge, but it should be a 'follow or boot' issue.

My three main infantry SLs followed orders well, with good SL to CO communication. Mantis was again effective and responsive in the air, and Bleak (?? SL of squad 5), did very well holding specific zones.

In two seperate instances squads five and three were individually sent to take Village very far to the North, via an extreme Western approach. They both made it to the flag, one managed to take the flag (squad three -- Santa?) and hold, but without available reserves I could do little to help them hold for very long.

As the advantage overwhelmingly goes to the side that holds three flags, everything should be focused on getting and holding three flags.

Under the circumstances, victory for Germany was NOT possible without ordering most of the one and two man airsquads to refit as infantry. My mistake was to not do so at the start and leave Mantis in the air.

The CO has ultimate control over the battlefield, so they have to follow any order you give.
