Not too shabby. Its obviously not going to get as good as BF2 did since BF2 was such a big step forward. But still a good score nonetheless.

Yeah, nice one. Specifically of note for TG:

"Thankfully, 2142 has a cool new feature in Titan mode to accompany the traditional conquest mode. This is the first new mode introduced in Battlefield since the series' inception, and it's a great one.Titan mode requires a bit more coordination than conquest mode, but the results can be wild once people figure it out. What's great about Titan mode is that there are plenty of ways to win."

"The squad nature of the gameplay is back, but now there are incentives in the form of "field upgrades" that reward players for squadding up and playing together. You get more points quicker if you follow orders, too."

The Bad: Only two new factions, and no more North Africans; the graphics engine is showing its age, and the load times remain as long as ever.
So is it just some coincidence that my loading times are significantly faster than BF2?

Re: Gamespot review

the loading times are about the same. The verifying client data, however, has been much improved.

Re: Gamespot review

My loading times are extremely fast. Then again, I just upgraded from an Athlon 3200+ to a Core 2 Duo and have not played BF2 on my new system, so that could have something to do with decreased load time - but I'm also loading larger textures since I can now play with everything on HIGH.

My load times are faster in BF 2142 than BF2 which is nice.

Must be a raptor because I don't know of any other company making 10K RPM SATA drives. I already had the Raptor in my old system so I know the HD had nothing to do with my decreased loading times.

Re: Gamespot review

I moved to a core 2 Duo as well, and the loading times are much faster in BF2 and also for some reason the account login and the unloading resources crap is much faster. Not certain why that is. Otherwise, same HDD.

BF2142 load times seem comparable, though. Textures may also be simpler. Everything seems to be a hazy metalic.
