I knew when I was asked to write a front page piece about Call of Duty 2 for www.tacticalgamer.com that I had to start with the quote above. It comes from one of the regular players visiting the Tactical Gamer Call of Duty 2 Server and is only one of many recent posts calling attention to the excellent things happening on the Tactical Gamer Call of Duty 2 Server. Since its inception in December of 2005 the TG game officers and administrators have constantly updated, tweaked and revised game play features and functionality. Nearly a full year later the TG Call of Duty 2 Server runs our own finely tuned mod that offers tactically minded players a haven from the typical run and gun frag fest found in too many Call of Duty 2 servers. The TG Call of Duty 2 Server offers the tactical gamer a realistic World War II experience that demands the proper use of small unit tactics and strategy for any chance at success. Some of the highlights include:

• No crosshairs—iron sights are a must for any kind of accuracy
• Consistently updated maps to keep game play fresh
• Disabled damage indicator that means you must see your enemy in order to engage him
• The ability to see the number of players left alive has been disabled
• For team selection—only "Auto-Assign" and "Spectate” are available
• The maximum number of players allowed on the server has been set to 24
• Rounds are eight minutes long—allowing planning and solid team tactics
• A tracer mod that disables tracers except for machine guns
• Enhanced compass that is more useful to the player
• An excellent sound mod for all small arms
• A start delay that ensures all players are in before the round begins
• Grenade indicators no longer display
• Team icons no longer appear above player's heads
• Players can bleed when wounded and have the ability to bandage themselves
• Weapons jam randomly from prolonged firing
• Attackers will hear the words "MOVE IN!" at the beginning of a round
• Weapons have been limited per team based on type e.g. one sniper rifle per team


Call of Duty 2 at Tactical Gamer is a unique experience among the COD2 community. The Tactical Gamer COD2 team wants as many tactically minded gamers to experience the excellent game play happening on our server. The COD2 admin team is actively promoting our server in the wider Call of Duty Community. This effort has led to several requests for scrimmages and we are only too pleased to show the world the TG way. Tactical Gamer will begin a scrim schedule in the near future that will feature matches with other tactically minded Call of Duty 2 Clans and groups. These upcoming matches promise some of the best action in the COD2 community to date.

Our server is in great working order and is chock full of enhancements that offer solid realism, tight team play and tactical excellence. If you haven’t tried the TG CoD2 server lately then you haven’t tried COD2 . So all you guys and gals who haven’t played on our server in a while—c’mon down any time, but especially every Wednesday and Sunday for our regularly scheduled 8:00 p.m. games. No silly crosshairs, no running and gunning or grenade spamming and lots of FUN. What more could you want?
