Thursday latenight

Had a nice defense going on the titan, our squad was doing a good job of holding them back. Reporting enemy location, rushing from one corridor to the next when someone fell. Making sure those consoles stayed up. Sure we lost the round but it was not because of anyone getting though to the core

I would mention names, but I suck at remembering all of them. So I do not want to leave anyone out if I can not remember all of them. But you guys know who you are

and on a side note those titan defense pins are nice 20 points a piece. Got me 199 points in a round without any special ribbons or badges.

Aside from getting kicked for not being in a squad (the only decent squad that was working as a squad was full), there were some pretty sweet matches and they were all really close for the most part. The other weird thing was that everybody got kicked off of the server at about 01:30 EST and then nobody came back onto the server except for rinso, jepzilla, and myself.

Re: Thursday latenight

If you can't find a squad to join, then create your own and lock it if you don't want others to join.

But more likely, you were randomly selected by an admin to be kicked from the server to make room for a supporting member. Donating to TG has its benefits

This is a very bad idea and I would not recommend following this advice. Creating a single-player locked squad will quickly be viewed as a "lone wolf" squad.

So just don't lock it. But definitely create your own!

First off, I was kicked because I was accused of being a "lone wolf," not because a supporting member wanted a spot.

I know I'm a new member, but I do have a problem with this squad policy in general. I don't think squads should be formed for the sake of being in a squad. Squads should be groups of people who know how to play in a squad led by somebody who knows how to be a squad leader. In the game where I was kicked, there was a TG squad but it was full and all of the other squads weren't acting as a squad or they weren't being given proper direction by their squad leader. I just think playing as a "lone wolf" or as a supplement to an organized squad that's full shouldn't be punishable if the circumstances justify it. Of course this was the only time that I couldn't join an organized squad (rare on TG). After I was kicked, I was told to either join a squad or make my own. If I'm going to be in a squad alone it's the same thing as being a "lone wolf" and I wouldn't want others to join a squad I started, because I'm not a very good squad leader (inexperienced).

I have a lot of respect for the TG community even though I've only been involved for a very short period of time, but I think that this policy should be reviewed and possibly reformed. Putting policy ahead of practicality and circumstances doesn't seem like the best move to make, but I respect the rules and will follow them, I only suggest that some leniency be granted if the circumstances justify it.

Re: Thursday latenight

I think the issue is who and what circumstance do you grant that leniency to. It's too complicated so it's just a policy of squad or kick, period. On BF2 we have scripts that will kick you automatically if you don't within 45 seconds or so of joining the server.

It's not hard to lead a squad. If someone joins just let them know you're not that great at it and if they'd want to lead the squad.

Not to change the subject about a good policy that doesn't need to be changed- but back to the AAR, do you ever get the feeling like someone is taking pleasure in shooting you? I had a decent time last night on 2142. I was cracking up because everywhere I went I would got blasted by Reader. I kept picturing Reader quietly celebrating each time he blew me away lol. The one and only time I got to take him out I relished in it I know I broke rule but my teabags were dry and needed to get wet. Good games, but I have way too much to learn still especially in Titan Mode.

Welcome to TG, Carbon. Since you admit to being involved at TG for a short period of time, I think you can also admit that you dont have enough experience yet to start criticizing long standing policies. TG is all about promoting teamwork. Having one man locked squads does not promote teamwork, no matter how you slice it. You say you are an inexperienced squad leader, but how do you think you are going to gain experience? By squad leading yourself, that's how. How do you think the squad leaders got their experience? Remember, if you want the TG experience, you also have to give it.

Well said.

Further to that, if you really don't want to lead, as soon as someone joins your squad, you can always swap out and back in to make them the SL. Just make sure you tell them you're doing it

Sometimes new opinions can be the most valuable. I didn't make the comment to criticize. I was just giving my opinion, and in reply to your comment about practicing as a squad leader, I just don't have much interest in leading. I'd rather just be a supportive member of a squad.

Not that there is anything wrong with making suggestions. It is just that when a new person comes in and makes comments about a long standing rule, it tends to come off as critizing. No worries, Bommando hasn't banned you...yet If you really do not want to SL, may I suggest joining a NON-TG squad and supplying your helpful comments and spreading what TG is about. Granted, they will probably ignore you, but you may just get that one jewel out there who will be a valuable member to the community. To piggyback on someone elses comment, it would be just to difficult to sort the good from the bad as far as lone wolfing is concerned. Sorry.

Re: Thursday latenight

Just goes to show we need to spread across the server and make TG lead squads rather then bunch up in one uber fun squad and leave everyone one else dry.

Re: Thursday latenight

Yes, we need to make an effort to have TG people squad lead diffrent squads we should be able to have 3 squads on each side run by TG. Question is if we can kick people or force them to quit the squad for not squad leading correctly? The problem is sometimes end up with the maximum amount of squads pretty quickly and we cant make new TG squads.

Re: Thursday latenight

I was on a non-TG server the other night and was SL. I placed a squad beacon and gave orders to attack the titan. Not a single member joined me after I died 5 times alone on the titan. I ended up kicking all 5 members of my squad.
