Call me a sucker, but I finally hopped on the bandwagon and bought 2142. I wasn't going to, in light of the whole adware thing, but I finally came round against my better judgement. Yea, I'll admit it took a couple weeks of grumbling and sulking before I realized I was just going through TG withdrawal, and with no BF2, I needed a fix badly. So here I am!
Anyways, I have to say the retail is by far a lot better than that shoddy demo, and at 49.99 CA, it was a price I couldnt beat. I do have a quick question though. When I gain an unock in-game, I exit and go back to the mainscreen and it still says my old rank with no points registered. Also, sometimes it says like 215/200 points needed for next rank? Is this a known issue, cause it kinda pisses the crap outta me. I'm working on the Recon trees right now, because everyone seems to be support or assault, with a few engys here and there. Good choice? Bad choice? I think I'm gonna work on medic tree and asault tree next for an assault-med hybrid. -Cheers and TY Fox |

Re: I'm a believer!
Sometimes it takes a while for EA to catch up with the points you score in-game, so you get a wee delay before you get your unlock.

Re: I'm a believer!
Noooooo!!! Get The Monkees out of my head!!
All the trees are good. Recon is best played without directly confronting the enemy- either shooting them from a long way away, sneaking up on them with a cloaking device and shooting them in the back, or blowing them up with booby traps. The Carbine is a really, really great unlock; terrible at long range (it's a carbine), it's one of the best infantry killers at close range. The major advantage of the big sniper rifle is its stability; you barely need the stabalizer with it, so you can carry some extra explosives with you. |

Re: I'm a believer!
I get my unlocks right away after the round ends. Before the next one begins, there's a button next to Join Game called Choose Unlocks. It's always shown up for me but if it doesn't then the 2142 stats server probably hasn't updated for you yet.

Re: I'm a believer!
Yeah I got it too... I'm really fighting with lag though ATM, so thats hindering my enjoyment some, but had SOME fun.
I REALLY dislike flag hopping though and it seems like that will happen regardless. Can't say I love the game or hate it yet though, only had it a day. My unlocks so far have been up the support tree (man that feels weird to say) but have been thinking of changing it up and going for the recon setup. Not sure what I want... I DO like being the guy with the ammo though, problem is everyone does which kinda makes me a bit useless in most situations. Ahh well, I caved and bought it. See you on the battlefield.

Re: I'm a believer!
Excellent. I'm having fun with it...payed the same price as you (FutureShop?).
It's seems like Vanilla on steroids to me...but certainly some cool ideas...and yeah, unlocks seem to come right away for me. The field upgrade is a great way to check out potential future unlocks as well. Cheers, |

Re: I'm a believer!
I just like it more every time I play POE, I just dont like the air power in POE and the game runs better and looks better than the older BF2 engine. The only thing I miss is the good times with many TG players on both side and having a TG squad where you joke and have fun and everybody playing for the objective to win the game
The last problem is not that bad anymore thanks to the buddy system I have had many good games and fun with fellow TG players. The best thing is as always when you face off with another TG squad. I also have an issue with the flag hoping so as a Squad Leader I have started to defend more. I usually chose one point as primary and for some more action try to have another point as secondary. I personally like defending as it give a better sense of completion than attacking. If you can keep a flag the whole game after countless of assaults it just feel more rewarding. And you get a lot of extra within objective points. Decreasing the value of kills was one of the best changes to the point system in BF, now you can keep up with points doing "good deeds". Overall I still really like this game. |

Re: I'm a believer!
Yea, I'm definitely with you on that one. I like the suspense of defense too, I actually enjoy the downtime, with everyone setting up mines, medpacks, and ammo hubs it just adds to the squad atmosphere. I particularly like laying down the suppressive fire on that rush squad sitting on your silo, while the recon guy with the lambert moves in for the flank kill. Or running around in the thick smoke, defib in hand, thinking "Where the @#$% did that SL get to..." Yea good times. Defense FTW.
