EA LINK (Ea Downloader update)

So, today I decide to format my HD and re-install Win Xp.
Today of all days is the day EA DOWNLOADER is being updated (and renamed) to EA LINK.
I install it, then try to login... And badaboom, can't login anymore.

And of course, I purchased 2142 through EA DOWNLOADER... so I need to login to be able to redownload my copy.

Anybody else having problems logging in the updated version of EA DOWNLOADER?

Re: EA LINK (Ea Downloader update)

Nope, I used the same account name and password that I used for the EA Downloader (same as the 2142 account) and it was up right away.

Re: EA LINK (Ea Downloader update)

can you login here on their website: http://www.ea.com/ealink/index.jsp
And is it the same login/pw as your EA LINK account?

I'm confused because I can login on that page properly. I can even view my account info and the games I purchased. Yet, if I use the same login/pw into EA LINK, I simply cannot login!

Re: EA LINK (Ea Downloader update)

Today. my EA LINK cannot even connect to the EA server, so I cannot even try to login.

Anyone knows where we can get support for EA LINK from EA? Like, a phone number? For the life of me, I cannot find tech support on their website...

Re: EA LINK (Ea Downloader update)

In the back of the manual is the customer support number, I would give it to you, give I have a UK manual, so it has the UK number in it. You'll have to find someone in the US who has it.

Re: EA LINK (Ea Downloader update)

Thanks for the suggestion!
I have a copy of BF2 here I purchased from a local store, so I took the tech support number from the manual.

Well, apparently the EA LINK servers aer down today because of maintenance. According to the clerk, there "may be a problem with logins" and engeneers are at work on the servers to "fix issues".

So basically, I cannot play the game I purchased because their online service from where I purchased the game from is bugged. That's ****ty to say the least. Makes you wonder what's the point of purchasing their product online from their website if you have to run through all that trouble to actually install the game... I wish I had purchased it from the local store.

Re: EA LINK (Ea Downloader update)

An Update:

I called back EA 6 hours later.
Here's the official word they gave me:
"No account is working on EA LINK at the moment. Even us cannot connect on it. There is an issue with the servers and we are working hard at fixing it. Sorry, we cannot say when the issue will be resolved".

Geeeee.... That's gotta be one of the worst release for a software update!

Re: EA LINK (Ea Downloader update)

For those that can't play because EA Link is busted you can follow these instructions to get up and running again.

Won't help those that still need to download the game of course.

Sounds like EA alright. For once I am glad I waited and got mine from the store.

Re: EA LINK (Ea Downloader update)

This situation is absolutely ridiculous! How can they even put online a stupid software update that doesn't even work? To even add to the farce, here are quotes from the email I received from EA about their updated and better EA Downloader:
- Your EA downloader service is being upgrade to and new and improved service called EA Link.
- EA Link provides many new enhancements

AND from their website:
- EA Link lets you start playing now by giving you a secure yet simple way to download our PC games
- EA Link: Simple, Secure and Speedy

Stupid I tell you, stupid. Why did they even put the up[date online if it doesn't work at all?
