Installation Issues

Hey guys for those that didn't see my new guy post, I bought BF2142 today. I'v ebeen gaming on the CS:S server for a month or so. I can't get my 2142 to work. It installed ok but when I load it, I get the log in menu, I create a soldier, then try to onnect to the EA Master server. it freezes up, then times out. I tried to download that 1.05 patch, but when i tried to install that, it tells me that it can't find the install file. Any thoughts? Thsi game looks really good and I want to play it!!! Please help me.

Was the 1.05 patch in .zip format (where did you download it from ) ?

I don't think it was zipped. a double click and it took off without winzip or winrar. I got the 1.05 form file planet I think.

Do I need to install the older patches first? I really suck at this part. Please help a retard out.

I am currently downloading BF2_Patch_4.1 is that one needed? I'm just trying to get his to work. I havn't played any of the BF series. I saw it was on sale so I bought it. I think it would be a good change up form CSS.

EDIT: i t tells me it can't find the battlefield 2142 install folder. I looked in the Battlefield folder on my HD and I can't find anything in there either. Not even the .exe


I'm uninstalling and am going to try to reinstall.

You need the older patches unless the latest one is a «full patch» that includes previous fixes. I don't think there are any «full patches» yet for BF2142.

BF2142: After installing the game, I applied patches 1.01, then 1.05 , then 1.06 (not as neat as Steam...).

BF2: you probably mean patch 1.41 full (that's a biggie at 535MB). That patch covers all of the updates.

thanks. I am uninstalling/reinstalling now. I'll get 1.01 then 1.05/1.06

Do I need the BF2 patch at all? Does it have any bearing on 2142?

check your fire wall also. when you try to connect to the master server you may be getting stopped by your fire wall... zone alarm is good for this,, it opens the first part of it but doesnt show you the window for the second part. lol its a pain in the arse but its a damn good firewall
