Creative and bf2142

Im beginning to wonder if i made the right choice on buying the creative soundcard. Been more hassle than anything else.

My problem now is, when i load up bf2142, the game resets itself to standard hardware sound devices, which in effect is no sound. I then rechoose ultra settings bla bla bla, only for it to tell me that my soundcard is uncompattible for the game!?

This happens everytime start up game.

Any one know why this might happen?

Which Creative card do you have ?

If you have an X-fi, make sure you are in "Game mode" and not in "Entertainment mode" or "Audio Creation Mode" before you start the game. Ultra sound settings and EAX are only availible in "Game Mode" and if you try to start your game in the other two modes it'll most likely change the settings off of ultra (yes, the card should do this automatically but it doesn't).

This is of course assuming you have an x-fi.

Yes i have an X-fi card. I think your absolutely right there. I must of changed it by mistake earlier. Cheers

I had the same problem before and got it set just like that.

Other than that original problem the X-FI rules.

Also, use the latest drivers from the Creative support site, not the drivers that come with the card.

Actually I can log in using whatever mode I want and I never get that problem. It always stays in Ultra. The other day I went into entertainment mode and added a voice filter to the microphone so I sounded like Mickey mouse. Works in game. People were buggin me about my voice.
