Full auto to single shot

Every once in a while somehow my assault rifile goes from fully automatic (doesn't matter which, SCAR 11, Baur, Voss) to firing a single shot per click. Not that it doesn't have its uses, but it happens often when I wouldn't want it that way. After I respawn, it's back to fully automatic. Looking on the Edit Controls page I don't see an option for this - is it a bug or is there a preset bind for it that isn't listed?

Its not a bug. If you already have it equiped and you hit its key assignment (3) again it changes it from auto to single, and if you do it again, it will change back.

You can select between the different weapons slots by pressing the number keys.

1=knife
2=pistol
3=rifle
...

With the assault rifle being select fire, pressing it's slot key will cycle between firing modes.

So, when you find yourself in semi-auto, just press 3.

Yea that is also the case with BF2. It took me about 15 mins. to figure that out on BF2 lol. So in 2142, I just presumed that was also the case.

Guys I figured I would use this thread to ask my dumb question instead of starting a new thread but "WHAT ARE THE DOGTAGS, and how do you obtain them?" if you havn;t noticed I am new to 2142..Thanks

A dog tag is a personal memento of inflicting death in a humiliating manner upon your enemies. This occurs when you opt to killing your opponent with a knife instead of the regular fire arm.


So basically a dog tag represents a knife kill (kind of like killing a player in Diablo and taking their ear). You can later view your dog tags in BFHQ (in the leaderboard section click dog tags in the upper right corner). You also only get a dog tag per unique knife kill (i.e.: You knife a person twice you only get one dog tag).

Yeah - too bad you can't have your in-game character wear all the dog tags you've collected. You'd kinda look like Mr. T!

That would be entertaining, but by the end, only one person would have ALL the tags.

After you get the knife badge, you get a new knife that has a couple of dog tags hanging from it

Actually you only need 50 unique dog tags to get the new knife (named the "Dog Tagger Dagger").

I've been using the Baur on single shot primarily. I play it the same way as an AK47 from CS:S. It has some serious power to it. Two shots to the head finish just about anyone. Too bad I can only accomplish this on 16 player maps where my framerate is decent.
