The (almost) perfect game
Heres some screenshots of our squad in Spies Like Us tonight. I hope they're clear enough.
http://img431.imageshack.us/my.php?i...reen019yf6.jpg After realizing we were'nt dying much i challenged the squad to not die the entire round. We must have gone 1/3 of the round with no deaths. This screenie is just before we got overran on our hilltop. http://img222.imageshack.us/my.php?i...reen020go7.jpg Thats a screenie right before the end. Notice Tau's ridonkulous K/D ratio. Most of the round we were at the watermill CP, generally entirely outnumbered. When we had too much fire coming our way, wed drop smokes and go to a better area of cover. They would follow like lemmings right into 6 guns. Robo and I were constantly reviving like a pair of lemons. I dub it "team-based point whoring". I havent seen a squad stay alive so well, especcialy considering which map it is. |

Re: The (almost) perfect game
Yeah that was a lot of fun. Impossible to pull off on the GER side, but fun nonetheless. You two as medics brought a whole new meaning to the term "God Mode".
That game was a clear case study in the importance of owning the high ground on that map in particular. Even though we got run off a couple times, defending with the high ground and two power medics was very very lethal. ![]()

Re: The (almost) perfect game
That round was a lot of fun (probably not for the Germans, though). Kudos to the squad.
Things we learned and re-learned this round:

Re: The (almost) perfect game
I knew that map was going to be bad when we (germans) couldn't take the watermill flag because of a glitch. On that map it's a tough hill to climb for the German team anyway, but that just made it pointless to even try. I was almost relieved when I got the boot to make room for a member.

Re: The (almost) perfect game
I popped in last night just in time to play this round.......on the german side.
There wer really only about half of the team doing anything besides runningand pubbing and we had several one man/two man squads (though santa solved that problem quickly at least. The first squad I was in was led by one of the n3m guys and he never spoke a word the entire time I was in there, so i jumped over to wimpinators sqaud for the end of the round. All in all it was terrible. That was the first time Ive ever had to suffer through being german on that map. Has anyone ever really seen the germans win that map? Isnt it nearly as broken as zhytomir? |

Re: The (almost) perfect game
Maybe I missed this discussion, but can't something be done about the uniforms and weapons balance? I love Spies Like Us and hate to see it be ruined by these two correctable issues.

Re: The (almost) perfect game
I agree the map has some serious balance issues. The best thing to do is to provide feedback in the POE2 forums. We really can't change anything from an admin perspective, other than increase the tix the GER side starts off with.

Re: The (almost) perfect game
They just need to make the German uniforms a duller shade of white, then they'll blend in very well. The Germans side got massacred on that round, but I think they would've lost significantly anyway due to the teams' different tactics. Our side (the Ukranian) was focusing on high ground, defense and tickets (long-range shooting and medic revives). We created some really nasty killzones rather than rushing every flag we got near. The German side always seemed to be surrounding our flags and on the attack, they got cut down and isolated when they rushed.

Re: The (almost) perfect game
Playing on the German side, the intial glitch that made us unable to capture the watermill-flag kind of made things a tad more difficult that usuall and forced everyone to move away from the flag.
How ever, what I think made things the most difficult was that it didn´t seem to be much communication going on and nor did the squads seem to cooperate in order to take advantage of the successes the German did have [there were a couple of those...]. From what I experienced so were we Germans able to a few times pull ourselves together and capture the missile-sits [which is good] but were almost instantly shot to pieces by the Ukranians positioned on the high ground [which was not so good]. More or less the same thing happend when we had capture the camp and attempted to take the bunkers. The numerous head-on attacks up the slope directed at the bunkers also got bogged down and turned into the two sides firing at each other at long range, and with us Germans not willing to charge up the slope and the Ukranians happy defending in the bunkers. Still, even though it was difficult to move around and capture flags so did I strangely enough actually enjoy myself with the MG while supporting my squads advance. There is some very nice accuracy in that MG, and I did discover that some lives can be made miserable at a range of 150-200m, even under the circumstances that excisted this round.
