Chunky performance

The last 3 or 4 days I have been getting laggy performance on 2142. I can not pinpoint the problem. My ping still is at 70 but all of a sudden the game has started chopping, stuttering, etc. I thought it was the new patch windows released (as I autoupdate from microsoft), but now i don't think so. Anyone else have this, as it has gotten to the point of non playability.

Re: Chunky performance

Just recently BF2142 has started freezing for 5 seconds or so occasionally, then unfreezing. Usually resulting in my extremely painful death. I haven't changed anything but it started on it own. Bleehhhhh

Re: Chunky performance

This happened last night or earlier morning I should say around 2am est

Wasn't too bad at first but it got real laggy almost like it does when I play in Titian Mde and board the Titian.

Maps like Berlin were almost unplayable. Hard to put the crosshairs on a target etc..

Any processes in background working when they shouldn't?

This happened to me before on my old computer.

Try different video settings?

Think back 3-4 days, any new software you put on etc?

Only suggestions but may help.

Yeah....Armed Assault...man I hope that isn't it. There are no programs in the background, and the only changes I have made are adding armed assault. I have reloaded the game and current drivers, but there was no problem with my old drivers at full details so I doubt that was it. Still has not changed, extremley choppy. I will attempt to uninstall Armed Assault, but I don't see the connection...*shrug*

Re: Chunky performance

Well nothing worked. I even just connected the modem without a router. I strongly believe it is packet loss, as my ping remains relativly constant.
Not much I can do except hope Comcast sorts it out. No 2142 for awhile...you lucky dogs!

Re: Chunky performance

Try and run pingplotter to the server in the background next time you play. When it gets choppy, alt-tab out and watch what the plotter is doing.

My other suggestion is to manually update punkbuster in case it's shoving huge updates to you in game.

I'm interested in what you find ... I've had the same issue last couple days. I figured it was just my old bessy here, but maybe there's something else going on.

Re: Chunky performance

I think it's a con.spir.acy!!!!!!!!!!! Someone is inflicting virii onto the 33rd's computers so that they will slowly start getting less kills and such..

Just a theory. Could have to do w/ pings and packetloss, and such, too.

Haha, I looked at it, that's awesome! I hope to be a part of the 33rd someday (if I ever get around to becoming a SM).

I completely agree about the being paranoid.

Re: Chunky performance

I had some weird lag today. Whenever I would change weapons, the game would like pause for a split second. Never seen that before.
