Question Daemon Tools and 2142

Hey guys is anyone running 2142 with Daemon Tools? I have BF2 installed and running just fine with DT but for some reason I can't get 2142 to run. All it does is go to the first intro screen then asks for the install disk to be loaded into the DVD player and retry. I used Alcohol 120% and created 2 different images but neither would work. I have all emulations turned on after I mounted the image but it still doesn't work anybody have any thoughts or advice. Thanks

I have a little program for you to try. It hides the actual emulated drive but still allows it to function

Read the read me and try it out.

Re: Daemon Tools and 2142

I'm not sure you can run it with Deamon Tools. If anyone knows a way to run 2142 without the dvd in the drive then please share.

Re: Daemon Tools and 2142

I'm not sure if the copy protection is the same as BF2. Gamecopyworld doesn't have a mini-image of 2142 but BF2 has one.

There is a cracked 1.10 exe for 2142. I've been using it for about 2 weeks now and no problems yet.

Re: Daemon Tools and 2142

As usual, back up the original exe when using cracked ones. PB may change and start kicking for exe's not using copy protection.

I play with out a DVD in the drive, and since you said 'anyone'...

But then again, I download it and play it through EALink, so I never got a DVD nor a cdkey, haha.

Have you guys tried both a normal disc image, and only a mini-image?

From the Safedisk FAQ:

40. Does SafeDisc work with Virtual Drives?
Unlike some other copy protection products, SafeDisc does support Virtual Drives. If users genuinely want to play a game from a virtual drive because they think it is faster, they are allowed to do so. The software does not disable the ability to run a SafeDisc-protected game from a virtual drive. It does require the original CD to be available for authentication when the game is run. Once the disc is authenticated, the game should continue to run from the virtual drive.

9. How are SafeDisc-protected applications authenticated?
SafeDisc adds a unique digital signature to the optical media at time of replication. Every time the application is run, the SafeDisc authenticator performs various security checks and verifies the SafeDisc signature on the optical media. Once verification has been established, the sequence is complete and the application will play normally. The authentication process takes about 10-20 seconds.

So I think if you mount an image, it still looks for that signature on the original CD/DVD. Bummer.

So, basically completely defeating the point of using a disk image. The game doesn't need the CD once it's loaded anyway.

Re: Daemon Tools and 2142

Sadly, it's quite a waste to use copy protection on a game like Battlefield. The game is easily copied but wouldn't be useful without a valid cd key. Good ol' EA thinking outside of the box.
