Spawn Beacon Crash

Just wondering, if anyone else has had the same problem. You drop a beacon down and you crash to desktop. It doesn't happen to me every time, but occassionally it does. Several of my TWL clan mates have had the same issue. Didn't know if anyone has found a fix for it.

Any help would be appreciated.

"I had the same problem, and many other people as well. Its usually a sound issue, as some sound cards cannot process certain sounds. Get the latest drivers for your sound card and turn your sound card hardware acceleration to "basic" (start > run > type "dxdiag" > click on sound tab > mover slider to "basic". This had worked for me and everyone else who I have told about it so far. Hope it helps"

I have had that happen a couple of times. It seems to happen most when I am leading a successful squad. Then I get frustrated and when I load the game again I don't feel like leading anymore. Sometimes I wish it would crash just to get out of my squad and put me out of my misery.

I get that often, but I think that you're getting it only when you drop a beacon is a red herring. It randomly seems to happen to me once every couple hours.

No, I changed the hardware compression on my soundcard and it crashed once after that. I think I'm doomed. I squint and cross my fingers every time I put the beacon down still hoping I don't abandon the squad I just help advance to a point.

Guns, its not you. It's a known bug with bf2142 and happens to everyone, inluding me. There is a 2% chance every time you put down a beacon you will be staring at your desktop.

Ok, this is the third time in a week where I've pulled out my SL beacon, clicked to deploy it and KA-BLAM, crash to desktop. No warning, no slow repaint of the screen, BF2142 goes bye bye in a blink of an eye.

Does anyone else have this problem? If so, how did you fix it? The most frustrating thing about it is that each time I CTD, reload, and rejoin I am ALWAYS placed on the opposing team. Frustrating... If it happens again I guess I'll try a reinstall of the game.
