TGU 2142 Training Session 1/6/07

First off, thanks to all of you who attended making this the biggest TGU event so far!

Second I wanted to commend all who attended and helped put this event on for helping to make TG a better place.

Third, gimmie a cheesburger!

I ran the first three TGU basic training modules (slightly modified for 2142) and while I didnt get any testimonials from the students in TS I wouldnt mind anyone posting in here.

After that Bommando ran his "Assault kit camp" and we were all amazed at the awesomeness that is the assault rockets when used in the right hands. Then, as a bonus Bomm ran us through a revive course and gave several scenarios and how to (usually) come out on top. (and not incur his wrath)

Special thanks to:
Sajier - His idea to get this together
eGoatboy - Helped quite a bit as a DI
Bommando - for guest DI'ing and sharing his coveted secrets with all of us.

If you missed this one make shure to hit the next one!

And me for just standing there and camoing around . I thought it went great, but it did streach a little long (3 hours?). I went on the public server after, picked up a rocket kit, and started killing enemy things.

Re: TGU 2142 Training Session 1/6/07

The training was awesome, and yeah, 3 hours 20 or so, since it started at midnight GMT

Very useful introduction to the whole TG thing, My map is now happily static because of it. The rocket guide was very useful - I did consider myself to have half a clue how to do it, but a lot of things bommando showed us have improved my use of them dramatically, especially the methods to avoid fire while getting your distance set.

Instructions were clear and concise, and I had no problem understanding the points the instructors were trying to get across. A big thanks to everyone who took the time to run it, it was very useful

I'm looking forward to the next one now! I wouldn't mind learning how to lead a squad properly, or to be a much stealthier and successful sniper perhaps Maybe we can get more people involved to teach it?

I would say the training is for everyone, even if you aren't completely new to the game, there is still plenty of tricks to learn, the revive lessons were also very informative.

I could run a small one on the sniper kit and being stealthy, but it's mostly just practice and being patient for targets to come into view.

Re: TGU 2142 Training Session 1/6/07

It did run long but that was also the largest class by far Ive ever had and I want to make shure everyone is getting the 'learnin' by performing the examples. (I didnt even go over fireteams)

Now that we have a few more elegible DI's we could split the courses up and run them seperately next time.

I had fun and I learned a load in Bommando's class.

Like I said at the end of the session. If you liked it, feel free to join in and help with the next one! Sometimes just being a student who knows what hes doing can help the other students.

TGU isnt elitist at all, its all volunteer work by people like you.

Great class,

The best one I have ever been to for online gaming. I got there late so I just listened in on TS not wanting to interrupt the class. I did get to listen to the entire class though. Excellent!!!! That is all I can say. While I didn't get to see the visual demonstrations I had played enough to visualize what both of you were showing the class. I just logged onto an empty server and practiced while you were talking without having to fight off bots or other players.

Both classes were extremely informative, even just listening in.

Might I suggest recording one of them so people that can't make it to the classes can download the classes from the forum. I got almost as much out of the class as the others just listening in. Teamspeak has a recording option!

Again, the classes were very professional and very well organized. I wish I had recorded them so I could listen to it again. 3 hours is not to long considering how long some of us play this game. LOL!

Thank you very much!! FreekyE and Bommando for taking the time to give the class.

I got some of my highest scores after listening to the class last night.

"Teamwork is the only way to play"

If I'm not playing the TG way, the game isn't fun.

Next time just join the server. Classes are open to anyone and im fine with a momentary distraction if it means another student is coming on.

Just make your entrance as quiet as possible, like in a real classroom.

I might turn down my settings a bit next time and try to run fraps.....and record on TS

I was very impressed with the organization. I learned a lot too. I got more rocket kills after that then I have ever gotten. Thanks everyone.
