Motion mines?

I have 2 question about mines.

Do countermeasers block a mines damage?

2nd, is there a way to distroy mines other then a deactivator?

I see people shoot at them and some walk through with shields up, but everytime I tryed either I blow up or the mine sits there and laughs at me

Re: Motion mines?

Countermeasures seem iffy to me, partial damage maybe. You can shoot them with the Zeller which will blow them up. Just don't stand too close.

Re: Motion mines?

If you are a steady shot, your bullets will drive the mine off into the distance. You need to AIM, and not just spray and pray. They will roll about 30 feet from their original position.

Re: Motion mines?

it seems like buggies can occasionally outrun motion mines. A great driver in camp gibraltar seems to be able to get past the toll booth by speeding past. I put down emp mines as well to counter that, but those only hit sometimes.

1. Nope, they don't.

2. RDX will destroy it, and so will a shot from the Zeller. Otherwise, nope!

Edit: An FAV with boost can outrun a motion mine, however if you drop some EMP's further down, it's going to be one dead FAV.

----

If you're going to try to go through the mines, go very very slowly. The damage a mine does it dependent on the speed. If you're in a quiet area, you can creep forward, get hit by a mine, repair, creep forward some more, repeat until you're clear.

But for the love of all that is holy, DO NOT JUST HOP OUT OF THE ARMOR IN A HOT ZONE!!! That's like.. putting a gigantic sign on your back saying "lol hey enemies, I'm giving you a free tank to shoot me with. Use it plz and pwn me with ur l33t fish-in-a-barrel skillz." If you hear the mine alarm, stop moving, but do NOT abandon that tank until the area is clear or it's about to go belly up.

You can turn the turret in the EU tank or turn on the spot in the Nekomata without being hit by the mines. If you're in an APC, man the mortar (Or if you have idiots on your team, just use the pilot's seat. You can still rip some infantry, but nobody will hop in and gleefully drive you to your death). The FAV gun is also very effective against infantry, just watch out for angry incoming rockets.

Re: Motion mines?

It's too bad an EMP burst on a mine does NOT disable it temporarily; that would be cool. If you don't have a Zellar, RDX, engineer or diffuser around you can always get out of your beloved vehicle and grab a nearby buggy/etc and roll that vehicle fast into all the mines (jumping out prior to explosion of course) and then get back in your tank/walker and pass by unaffected; just don't try this unless you are sure that you are alone (no ememies in the area). Good point about getting into the turret view IF mines have raised up on you, they will drop back down and you can still try to take out enemies around you before abandoning the vehicle. Additional point --> counter-measure before going to turret view - so that you have a moment to kill and assess threats in your immediate area before deciding if you have to jump out immediately after the shield goes down (this also defends against people trying to run up on your vehicle to RDX or hijack it because shields will kill an enemy on the ground who walks up to and pushes on it). Also, switching back to pilot view and QUICKLY accelerating then QUICKLY jumping out ensures that the vehicle will be destroyed, although sometimes risky because the splash damage may hurt/kill you.

Re: Motion mines?

you should never abandon the walker... no matter how close to death it is. All it takes is for an enemy to hop into a 14 health walker and 'Car Ramrod' your squad into the ground. Take the walker to the grave to avoid having it turned on yourself. Too many times i've been killed by a douche hoping out cause he doesn't want to die.

Re: Motion mines?

If you're worried about someone jacking your walker or other vehicle that is critically damaged, yeah, you can ride it to your death. But with walkers there is a second option.

When a walker is near death and is 'on fire', it tips over. It's rather amusing in some cases, as the thing will do a summersault before exploding. Often, however, you just see it slowly tip-usually backwards, for some reason-until it goes boom into chunks. However, you don't die until the walker explodes, so if you really don't want to worry about being carRAMRODed, then ride that baby 'til she drops! Once it starts going, it can't be saved, so do yourself a favor, stay in the thing a bit longer. Who knows, you might get a few more kills and even save yourself if an engie gets there in time, or a supply crate.

I just found a really lame bug last night - I was in a Walker which started to tip over and I jumped out and dropped a supply crate on it, I came back a couple minutes later to see that it was not smoking anymore so I jumped in it thinking it was fixed, and it WAS FIXED all the way back up to 100%. My smile very quickly turned to a frown as the stupid thing immediately started to tip over again and I jumped out but not in time so I died when it went 'boom'. So when you say, "Once it starts going, it can't be saved..", you mean it literally; walkers cannot be saved by any means once they start the tip over process which is really a lame bug. BUT, maybe this info can be used for some devious tactics.
ie.. jump out when starts tipping over and fix it then just watch nearby and wait until the enemy jumps in it and see them tip over and explode.

Re: Motion mines?

Supply crates don't repair vehicles...

Also if you're in a squad (which you should be :P) or the squad leader then call on your CO to hit the mines with the EMP strike. The EMP orbital strike will disable all deployables in the area including EMP mines, AV motion mines, APM mines, RDX, PDS-01, IPS, and Sentry guns. It'll also screw with recons waiting in camo and make them light up like an X-mas tree.

Saddly, EMP grenades don't do jack against any of the above mentioned things.

Re: Motion mines?

Except, Supply crates -do- repair vehicles Not sure if it does it if you're not in them, but since they repair assets, I would assume they would.

Vehicle shields also don't damage infantry.

Re: Motion mines?

they don't do anything unless your in the vehicle. same as how a med kit doesn't heal you in its deployed and you're inside the vehicle.

Re: Motion mines?

Right, in the situation cased above where they EXITED the vehicle near a supply crate the supply crate will do jack to an empty vehicle.

If there's someone inside the vehicle then the supply crate will repair the occupied vehicle. Then again, if the vehicle is occupied then it takes the tag of the player so what its really doing is repairing/healing the player.

There are two objects ; a 'supply crate' and a 'supply drop'. The object I referenced in my post was a 'supply drop' (from the CO). Yes, 'supply crates' don't do anything if a soldier is not around (same goes for the medic crate) BUT the 'supply drop' BOX dropped from the CO WILL repair nearby assets whether they are buildings, soldiers or nearby vehicles (even if those vehicles are occupied or not). As for counter-measures, actually I beg to differ - try it --> try running up to and attempting to pass-through an enemy counter-measure (on a tank/walker etc) in order to place RDX..etc and you will instantly be killed. It's the same bug I think as the one that kills you if you try to push your soldier's body through a pathway/opening that is too small - usually the game will register you as dead in that instance; try parking a vehicle very close to a wall (close enough that you cannot pass between the wall and the vehicle) then try sprinting through that narrow opening - you will die ("<username> is no more.").

Re: Motion mines?

I didn't realize the CO's Supply drop would fix damaged vehicles if your no in it.
