For the Fatherland!
Germany finally won in Spies Like Us! Screens:
Here you can see a successful rollout with squads, and somehow without a commander we spread out that nicely. You can also see that Mantis cant spell worth a damn. This is right before the round ended. We wound up winning by 102. Thats a 300 ticket turnaround from how that map generally plays out. And as a side note, i do not need tea in my diet phoenixx. |

Re: For the Fatherland!
That's alright, because we all know that you have enough nuts in your diet.
And as far as I'm concerned, the German team won by pure luck. Seriously though, Beatnik's squad was virtually the only squad on the UKR team that actually sat and defended most, if not all the flags. For example, at one point near the end, the UKR held all but one of the flags, the Camp. Our squad was the one who broke out and took Windmill (and continued to hold it), and after a short while after repelling a few attacks from a couple of different squads, we looked at the map, and realized that amazingly all of those flags were now controlled by the German team, with our squad the only one still in possesion of our flag, and the rest of the team somewhere between all of the flags. Re: For the Fatherland!
What's missing is the screenshot of the full server roster.
Playing on the Ukraine side was like being repeatedly punched in the face by Mantis, then getting kicked stomach when you realized your squad was nowhere in sight. I inherited a squad of server visitors for a while, up until everybody left it, crushing my self esteem for the night. Luckily, toward the end of the round the teams evened out a bit with new people signing on as the visitors signed off in frustration. RamRod took over the squad and things were a bit bearable after that. But... that was pretty painful. At least with balanced teams, the Germans can at least FEEL like their trying to do something. I just felt like target practice for the Germans tonight.

Re: For the Fatherland!
Quiet you! We were attacking bunkers and i was the last one alive. I was being chased from the east so i went west only to find more baddies. I guess that was a fairly incriminating screenshot.

Re: For the Fatherland!
No wonder you had that many kills. Base camper.
![]() 12th squad had the cabins on lockdown. Had a nice system going that worked well. 4+ squad K/D ratio Like 6 of these deaths were from disconnects too... ![]() p.s. Whiskey is the one who fails at spelling...

Re: For the Fatherland!
*ahem* yeah, I had 2 CTD's plus the disconnect I get exactly 90 seconds before the end of nearly every round. :/
and yeah, i know how to spell twelfth - but the letters "lfth" really have no business hanging out together in the same word like that... seriously... say twelfth a few times...

Re: For the Fatherland!
TOC Defended on bleed or when map showed that other squads were rushing to start bleed.
We spent most of the map between launchpad and cabins sometimes supporting bunkers. Correct me if wrong but I remember we were german about 2 weeks ago and spanked the UKR side pretty bad. For me Spies really isn't all that bad when sides are playing 100% Teamplay. I feel that this map enforces very tight tactics over all others (until urbans hit more). For visibility issues, I might see a German first but with the UKR weapons I have a hell of a time hitting them. I was very frustrated last night with multiple clips wasted on what should have been hits. I for one can not seem to find the sweet spot on the Spec. ops, either assault nor support weapons. The medic one seems the most accurate though I can't shoot at distance since iron sights block the view weird. Anytime I found a German kit I took it. Then I felt confident in getting fire to target. I love Spies and even prefer to play German. BTW: Nice sweep on us at the cabins.....we were waiting for stragglers to stack when you spotted and wiped us out.

Re: For the Fatherland!
Despite the issues with 'Spies Like Us' it remains one of my favorite maps. The TOC squad was well organized and disciplined last night but we got served big time. Santa was off the chain too.
I mostly used the Ukraine Medic rifle. It really packs a punch on single shot but it's loud as hell and can certainly attract attention. I gotta agree with Flyer at least about the Assault rifles. I'm really having a hard time finding the sweet spot with them. However, I seem to have much better luck with the Spec Ops kit, even at a distance. |

Re: For the Fatherland!
![]() News flash: Germany uses sound tactics to win on Spies Like Us. Hopefully this will put to rest the urban myth that Germany cant win against "invisible" Ukrainians with "one-shot" weapons on this map.

Re: For the Fatherland!
I got disconnected 3 or 4 times that round (I think something's up with my router). Luckily for me, I got disconnected right after I saw you TOC guys rather than right before or during the firefight.
