Problem with New Maps
I have noticed that with the new maps there are fairly frequent instances when my FPS drops from 40-50 to under 10 and stays there for several seconds. At that point there is almost nothing I can do--except get killed, usually. The action seems very jerky and I can't move smoothly from one point to another. (And before anyone asks, it is not associated with my alcohol consumption for the night.) During this time my ping stays at around 65-75. It seems to happen most often, but not exclusively, just after a new map loads.
I have turned off every background process that is not absolutely necessary, but that doesn't seem to make any difference. I've heard enough comments on VOIP and TS to know this problem is not unique to me. I have a vague recollection that something like this was mentioned in the forums before and it turned out to be a PB issue. My searches of the forums haven't turned up that old thread. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know. I'd appreciate it. E0

Re: Problem with New Maps
I am having the same problems. I ended up turning down textures, and its been fine since. I think there is a lot more foliage on these maps, and the custom textures are killing certain systems. I used to play with everything maxed, but now the textures are at medium.

I haven't had any performance issues at all with the new maps. Coming back to POE2 from 2142, I am amazed at how much smoother POE2 runs.
I did have problems trying to join any server running a vanilla map however, every time I try I load then back to the browser with the failed to connect message. From reading several other forums, I found that I am not alone on this one. Does anyone know about a fix for this issue yet? |

As for the FPS problem with the new maps.. I had not noticed, but I will run FRAPs next time I play... Although Stormfront gives me some serious rubberbanding effects when trying to drive :/

Re: Problem with New Maps
The vanilla maps may not need any client files. Granted I may not know what I'm talking about here but usually if a mod uses the vanilla maps with no major changes then I don't think it needs client files. For example in my PR folder all the vanilla maps have no client zip. Just a server zip and info folder. For POE the vanilla maps are similar...server zip and info folder but no client zip. Thats fine. The problem with the vanilla maps is a server issue. In a local server I can load them fine.

Re: Problem with New Maps
Has anyone tried doing the manual PB update?
This resolved some issues back with POE Vietnam. The way Mantis pwns my ash, I wouldn't mind seeing a little lag on his end
