Operation Acorn 1/20

Not a lot of close games tonight and I appreciate those who made their way through my squad on the blowout wins and the blowout losses. There were a ton of good squad fights, my particular favorite happened on my first map of the night, Operation Acorn. I started with my one man squad mid-game with the intent to cause some havoc at the Quarry flag. By the time I made it to my vantage point, my squad started to fill up. First Sam_Hoy, then Jmaker followed lastly by TheGreatNardini and Yahtzee. We began to really annoy the defending squad (Thundeer?) at this point where they were trying to paradrop onto our position as we rained fire down on them. We were at a stalemate in terms of fire until another squad was able to sneak up the main road. When they were close to a position to assault the flag, we paradropped down and took the flag. With the Quarry flag in hand, we were able to put bleed on the enemy, cut the difference and pull out a victory 4-0.

Great game to the guys in the squad, Jmaker (Medic), Nardini(AT), SamHoy(Support) and Yahtzee (Medic)!

Yea I was playing on Ukraine that round, in thundeer's squad trying to defend quarry. Yep, you guys were sure annoying up there, damn RPG's kept me, the medic, pretty busy. I still can't believe we lost by four though, when we held quarry almost the whole round.

Re: Operation Acorn 1/20

yup I thought that round was going to be one of the less enjoyable rounds of the evening (boy was I ever wrong; pretty much everything after that was terribly brutal); I almost asked Santa to not increase the ticket count cause it would be too painful. It was my 3rd time playing that map I think, and my first time ever being in the quarry for more than 5 seconds. If they remove the 60% quarry bleed and made the ukr UCB farther from the first cappable flag (imagine my surprise when I get in my speedy little buggy and turn onto the only bridge leading out of the UCB and seeing 10 mines neatly placed in a row across the bridge with an APC sitting 20 ft away staring at me) it would be a nice map to play.

So we set up shop in the quarry, and we have another squad kinda hovering around to help out, they were the ones taking the chopper up to try and root you guys out. It always felt like enemies were suddenly coming out of nowhere from every direction (east road, southern hills, then you guys up top), and I think there were a bunch of cool firefights and close calls. We lost the flag once for maybe 5 or 10 minutes, can't remember too much of that round EXCEPT for the very end, which I remember very well. I decide to go sniper to pick you guys off, thinking that we would just sit at this stalemate for the rest of the round. You guys were a pain up there for sure, but I wasn't expecting you guys to actually be able to take the flag cause we had been holding you guys back for a good 10 or 15 minutes without you guys even coming down. If anything did happen I was counting on getting out of there alive heading towards the northern path so my squad could respawn on me. And then of course we'd counterattack so well we'd wipe you guys out and retake the flag. Oops.

So I'm lying there happily pointing and clicking and going 'oooh!' since I haven't picked up the sniper rifle in literally months, my squaddies were taking care of the random snipers driving in at random times, when all of a sudden John C. asks on the admin chat how things were going on the server, so I plop myself in a little depression in the ground and type a comment to him, when all of a sudden I see Nardini firing an AT rocket at me. I die, of course. Thankfully only critically wounded, cause my medic foxoq got me up again... only to get rocketed a second time, and this time I think I actually was killed. =( not cool lol.

So the rest you know, you guys came down, the flag went gray, I spawn back at forest hill knowing I'm never going to make it over there before the round ends, since you guys had quarry + 2 other flags. I'm never going to respond to any admin messages ever again. That was a great round though, enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. Squad members that I can remember include BarnacleofDoom, Cappy, luuser, foxoq... and some others I know I'm forgetting... EDIT: just woke up and his name was in my head: sauerkraut, can't remember your clan tag, sorry! thanks to everyone for the good round, and I'll get you and your squad next time lucky...

Yeah that was pretty interesting up there on that hill. Lucky's orders were never to come down and attack the flag so if you want to feel good about holding us up there, then go right ahead. Not until the very end at least. You almost had us when someone wounded Lucky right at the edge of the cliff and as he was slowly sliding off, I was able to revive him and keep the squad up.

And who was dropping troopers from the sky? That was fun trying to pick them off when they opened their chutes way too early.

Re: Operation Acorn 1/20

I didnt stay last night. I joined a guy in revine as a sniper. We had all the fags except the one closest to the German UCB. I was content to potshot any who wondered over to the next flag but the SL wanted to attack. Thankfully the round ended shortly after that.

The start of the next was Berezne. I suggested the watermill but the SL wanted the field. I made it to the flag and died from lack of support. We then proceeded to spawn at what ever flag was available and to attack random flags from there. The SL was leading but had no plan and no idea. We succeeded at nothing and never attacked the same place twice. I lft the squad just before the end hoping for one with a plan.

The next map was Highway to hell. I joined a chopper squad because I wanted to play with the arty. I sat in the arty and called for a target ...over... and over...and over. Someone from the German side capped the Flag closest to the uke UCB. I lobed one shell in there only because I could see the flag from my UCB. Team vehicle damage -1 point. I called it a night.

My frustration levels were high, My patience levels were low, my crew was AFK. I had to move on. I played a couple rounds of Titan in 2142 then went to bed. Maybe I'll have better luck next time.

Darn...I was just checking the server to see if there are problem players, etc.

What? The payment of $100 from Lucky just before the incident? It has nothing to do with the admin distrac...erm...server check

John Canavar's always had the ability to shift the momentum of the game, we are finding out that he can do it even when he's not in game! Check's in the mail, bud!

Yes, remember that time when we had him do a strip tease on the construction crane on Gulf of Oman while we moved in and took the MEC's airfield.
