Spies Like us, German 1/22

I switched sides to try to help the Germans on Spies as the German's were pounded the round before by some 470 tickets. I know I wasn't the only one who switched to try and help out, Santa and some others switched over to try and even it out.

We hit the Watermill flag to find it catching at the top of the flag pole and not switching over. By the time we were able to get the flag to go German, the Ukraine already had soldiers on the outskirts of the Watermill. With that under our belt, we set up for Defense and to also watch to see whether we would be successful at other flags. Unlike most other Spies Like Us games, flags did fall and many parts of the game we had bleed. It still wasn't enough though in the end as the Ukraine ground tickets down until the very end through kills. Ultimately though, we had a strong squad that was able to take the Lumbermill several times throughout the round. I do want to thank the guys from TOC Floyd, Liminal and Flyer for their solid medic work as well as Axis, Squinty, Pvt Stanky and Roflchopperuk for allowing us to hold the Watermill flag against the invisible enemy and still be able to take other flags.

Thanks for the games and it ended as close as it has in a while at 107-0 Ukraine.

Re: Spies Like us, German 1/22

I did my part to help balance by taking my gun out of play and going CO.:b For the most part I didn't really have any issues with squads following orders...our problem seemed to be with squads not setting up proper defenses and SLers getting taken out too quickly on assaults. Whoever was at the Bunkers for Germany certainly gave my squads trouble. Near the end I just started zerging lots of squads in the same direction...finally that flag fell.

p.s. Sam Hoy did a good job of scaring the crap out of me when I was zoomed in on a flag...I hear footsteps around and then my reflexes got the better of me and I tked him. lol

I had a great time even with a CTD in the middle. Really enjoyed a little insight into's Luckys comm. style.

Yeah that was Santa's squad dug in there. We got it from both barrels for almost the entire round. Thanks to great medics and a spawning squad here and there we were able to hold that (and bleed) for probably 80% of the game.

A GER loss by ~100 tickets on that map = a GER blowout victory on any other map.

Re: Spies Like us, German 1/22

I was on the Ukraine, and on two different squads(nothing like CTD in the middle of a firefight).. both ran by Pubbers, the first thought he was John Rambo, trying to take the Camp by himself :/.. My second squad ran by Stedanko, set up camp on the east ridge of the launch site, unfortunately I could not get the pubbers to stay there and wait for the 33rd to come back over and over , which they did.. I would spot the whole bunch and the pubbers were still watching the mill flag. I was surprised that we didnt get ran off the map once or twice. gg though

Still my favorite POE2 map

We didn't get run off the map because our little fireteam consisting of Bleak, York, and MoreGooder secured Camp midround. Good job guys. I'm surprised there was little to no defense set up there.

That was a classic Luckyshot defense round, with lots of pushing and falling back, communication and throwing of med-packs and ammo about. Very fun stuff.
I was surprised to see how hard it was to get at the squad that kept behind the fallen trees at the hill between Watermill and Launch.

It's usually just a stopover on the way down the hill when I'm with a squad attacking WM; next time I SL I'll hunker a bit longer there and try to keep pressure on while a fireteam flanks.
You can throw smoke right into the defenders from up there I noticed; that's when they really took us out faster than we could revive.

Always a pleasure and nice to have the TOC guys with us.
You guys have achieved a status with me that few outside TG do: if I see a TOC-led squad, I'll join up without wondering what I'm getting myself into.

First game in over a month with a mic, and it was nice to call a quick warning than go prone and type frantically in caps to make sure my SL would see it.
