Talking Updating Drivers

How often do you update drivers and why?

I just updating everything. I'm trying to solve a boot problem.

Re: Updating Drivers

I only update drivers when I really need it...this might be when I install a game and I'm not getting the FPS I want...or if I experience any problems with audio or video. When things are working I generally leave everything alone so I don't muck it up.

Re: Updating Drivers

I always update drivers i check the page (www.nvidia.com) once a month for updates as they generally give me performance upgrades (G80)

Re: Updating Drivers

I occasionally do general updates where I make sure everything on my system is up to date. It only takes a few second to run 'emerge -avuDN world' then I can just leave it running in the background.

Doing stuff like that on Windows takes far too much effort.

Re: Updating Drivers

Typically, only when I am having a problem or if I happen to see some info that indicates a new driver will give me a substantial performance boost.

Re: Updating Drivers

some days I just don't feel like gaming, so I update all the drivers on my system, if there are any updates. Test them out, see if there's any improvements, and often I end up reverting back. Typically there's no reason to unless you're having problems, but rarely do I find drivers to be the fault. Typically it's hardware.
