Forgive or Punish?

If someone teamkills you. You can choose to forgive or punish that person. If you punish him/her, what does it do?
Thanks.

Re: Forgive or Punish???

I forgive 99% of the time. If you punish they will lose even more "teamwork" points.

On the TG server it is common courtesy to not punish.

Anyone know the exacts? I think -4 for TK and an additonal -2 if they punish? Cant say for sure.

I never noticed a differents in points for punishing or not punishing. I think it just works with the Punk Buster auto kick for a certain amount of punishes.

Re: Forgive or Punish???

I didn't think anything happens if you get punished, you just get kicked after 3 punishes?

Heh, I remember a while ago some idiot was shooting at me while I was waiting at a helipad, I punished when he killed me and he got kicked. Man that was sweet.

After some research on the internet you look to be correct.

I see no mention of punish being more points lost. Am I losing my mind or didnt BF2 give you more - points for punish?

Re: Forgive or Punish???

Nope. The only thing punishing accomplishes is that it brings you one step closer to the "kicked for teamkilling."

Nonetheless, I've found it to be a common courtesy on the TG server to forgive all teamkills, unless you have a VERY good reason not to.

I don't punish teamkills, unless I have a very good reason.

Re: Forgive or Punish???

The other day a noob ran half of your squad over, hit a tree, backed up and killed me as well while I was trying to revive the squad. I had to punish for that one...

Re: Forgive or Punish???

My view on forgiving and punishing?

If it was my own stupid fault or clearly an accident (sometimes both), then obviously I'll forgive. Also, if I'm in doubt I forgive, so I forgive a lot.

If it was deliberate or his stupidity (like running me over in an FAV on Belgrade because "ZOMG IM GONA GET THE WALKR!!!!1111111", then yeah, I'm gonna punish your ass.

If I get TK'ed by the same person more than once, then the page down key gets some love.

One other thing: I'm more inclined to forgive TG players then random pubbies. Also, I look at how many people he just TK'd and enemies he killed (if any). Now, if I get TK'ed by a guy in an APC and I see he just racked up a bunch of enemy kills, with me being the only friendly casualty, then I'm probably going to forgive. But if he TK's half my squad for ONE kill, then that fool better prepare for the punish!

Oh, and for those that are confused as to accident and deliberate, here's an example: If you run in front of my while I'm unloading my MG, 1) You're a moron. 2) See point 1. 3) If you punish, I will 'forget' that you are standing there and 'see' an enemy, causing me to use roughly 50-60 rounds targeting that enemy. Got it?

Oh, and squadmates? Since you all should have VOIP or at least know how in-game chat works, communicate to reduce TK's and explain them when they do happen. Squaddies who punish squaddies are a-holes. If the TKer is a jackhole, then he shouldn't be on the squad for long.
