Re: 1-31-2007

I enjoyed the games I played. Aside from Dark Viper's presence on the server, everything was GREAT!

Re: 1-31-2007

I had a fun round commanding at orel, might add the screens later. After some serious threats from my part to squads that didn't listen, all squads except one one man sniper squad followed orders perfectly. Most of the time we were able to hold a triangle of flags. Quick support was given by squads that were positioned in between flags.

What I loved most was seeing a three to four squad surround and assault on church, with good positioning of different squads. Must have been a fierce battle to be in. Props to the opposition for defending against this force in the end.

I think many kills must have also fallen on the east with santa's squad (offering excellent admin support, although it wasn't needed luckily. I don't know if I started co at a ticket deficit, but we lost even though squads performed great and made Co-ing fun.

Yes, it was a pretty good night o gaming, and I got a few good video shots, one of Viper in the Helo, another of Santa using CV to hold a postion in a building. Will try putting these up on a server.

Re: 1-31-2007

Here are some shots from that night. I always take screenshots when no action is going on, thats why there is not much to see

I was leading a great squad with non-regulars and everybody worked together pretty well even if they did not use VOIP much. The UKR team dominated all of the maps I played that night, not sure if the other squads were filled with TG regulars, I introduced some new faces to the TG way that night. Next time I will not forget to point them to the forums.

So here are the shots:

Setting up a mine trap and killzone across the bridge coming from the enemy UCB after holding all other flags on the map:

Initial deployment on Mashtuur. Take the hill flag and hold off reinforcements coming from the South Gas Station.

Falling back to the west side to secure the Hotel

Regrouping on Hill. Setting up defensive positions.

Nic pics -- particularly the heli landing.

I have a brief test clip from last nights action, of DarkViper in a Helo. Unfortunately, the sound track drop out.

E-Male... you need to get on the server w/ free look one night and capture the action with the power of God! That could render some great footage.

I think we'd be willing to turn the free camera on for one night if you wanted to capture some good footage.

Thank you for the opportunity. Obviously, if it lead to a noticable degradation of quality (stuttering, and so on) on the server, we would end the project immediately.

I plan to be on tonight 9pm (server time). We could try then. I have not used the free camera, but I assume it is intuitive. I'll focus on capturing moments of good team work on offensive and defensive postions. Stuff that would be of interest to all.

I am working on a 8 minute collection of footage from two nights ago, capturing the defense of the gas station. At present I am not able to get the stream video to stream (.flv) on the member's server space. Odd, as I am able to do so on my own web site. Will post problem in another form if I cannot resolve it.

Free camera means that you don't spawn and all you do is float over the battlefield. You move using your mouse and your normal move keys. It won't affect the server at all, it just means your side will be down one person.

Re: 1-31-2007

It also means that people can use the camera to scout the field while they are dead, but that would be a minor thing to allow for one night. Both teams get it.

I am sure we can trust both side's camera men to be neutral and not provide spotting or intell.

No, I mean ANYONE can do that while they are dead. It doesn't really help very much in the organized games we generally play.

I have never understood the decision on that, given the level of play compared to other servers on tg, I cannot imagine that this feature would be abused.

And think of it practically. You have to be pretty fast in clicking away the spawnscreen and finding useful intel. Then you have to relay this info by voip.
This is where your squadmates start frowning heavily behind their pc, and will tell you to stop the abuse.

Every so often I enjoy just watching a game, and I would find it very enjoyable to sometimes not play a minute, and watch a well planned attack from a nice angle. They even allow spectator in some clan matches, for recording purposes, because they decided it isn't useful enough to abuse it. And it costs you a player that could be fighting.
