fair game buggy?...
Its been quite a while that we (as felow players and teamates) have accepted that stealing a buggy from the enemy's UCB is considered "fair game" as long as the player is fleeing away from the crime scene.
I say we just make an officieal rule now. The "fair game buggy" rule I guess, its only been runing officially since admins found themselves in the same position, but... didnt excatly want to report themselves. I also think there should be limitations to this, the same kid steeling our buggy 4 times in one round and running some guyss over, I think thats unaceptable, but to all there must be limitations I guess. Post what you think and let us hear your response PS. A bit ago there was a thread talking about making the start timer longer..wtf hapened, never did i hear from it agaon. w/e I guess, best of wishes and see you on the battlefield guys. HAVE A GOOD ONE!! 'ablindeman' out! PPS. Hey vendi, how about those tactics we worked on today ![]()

Re: fair game buggy?...
I am struggling to make sense of your post, since it seems to encompass rule changes, start times, running people over and a shout-out to Vendi in no particular order.
How about we just read the rules and use common sense for all other occasions. Why people feel the need to discuss the rules in the forums ad-infinitum before, during and after the fact is beyond me. I'd like you to clarify what you mean by this. What rule did we suddenly make up and what exactly didn't we want to report ourselves for? |

Now what im trying to say in this thread, is that this rule should be curved only slightly, to alow buggy stealing to flee from the enemy UCB. Now what i was saying about the admins is that if and a squad leader who aperently is an admin, has formed a recon squad and decides to destroy assets; he goes to UCB; asset goes boom; turns around; "where the f_ck is the buggy guyss?"; squad leader needs to get a vehicle to get out; steels enemy buggy, realizes that hes brocken a rule, but cant actually report himself....i doubt an admin, can report himslef (or can he?...) Im just trying to say that this rule of no vehicle steeling at an enemy uncap needs to be curved only slightly. get me? IE. bomando, its 3:30 in the morning hear on the eastern united state, i actually took time to spell check this man, cut me some slack and get on TS when your on the sight.. "one word can be worth a million ideas"-my father

Re: fair game buggy?...
Nobody is threatening anyone.
People have coped with our rules for the last 18 months just fine. We have made very few changes to them since BF2 was released. We don't make a rule for every single possible scenario for a reason, because we trust our admins to make the decision that suits the occurrence. You should too. PM Tempus if you want the rules amended. I don't see any reason to do so. |

I did not know about the buggy rule. I am glad though, because I was stuck running away (on foot) from a UCB the other day when I could of taken a buggy.

I am sure if you use it offensively you will get warn/kick/ban though.

Re: fair game buggy?...
Rules only take you so far, it's the judgment from an admin that makes the final result. If an admin thinks it's ok to take a buggy from the enemy's UCB as a means of escape, then it is fine, though technically against the rules.
Keep up the good work.

Re: fair game buggy?...
Why was this even brought up? This topic was not the result of someone being kicked/banned from the server, no admins were involved in this incident, and to be honest, the rule is not intended to shoot the asset-destruction crew in the foot by punishing them for being gutsy...it is intended for fairness of gameplay as a whole.
Spirit of the rules as they are (In lingo we'll all understand): "Don't jack their ride unless you were in their house specifically to perform an act of arson." Fairly self-explanatory...if you ain't there to blow stuff up, you should never have an opportunity to mentally debate the legality of whether or not to steal a vehicle. If you DO steal one, it should be to get the flock out of the area...not to turn your newly-acquired guns on the rest of the vehicles sitting there and whack respawning enemies like a brainless pubbie (which is exactly the reason the rule is there in the first place). If we really wanted to split hairs (I don't want to, but I have plenty of 'em left in my head, so why not), we could address the scenario of "But all the FAVs are gone...do I have to wait for them to respawn, or can I grab the nearest vehicle?" Not sure what the admins would say about this, but having been there and done that without ever getting a warning from 'em, I take the following approach: "Whether you flee in an FAV or a Walker, getting OUT is the only acceptable action to be taken with 'em." Personal experience says that by the time you've planted the RDX, you may or may not have time to actually hit the button because they're hunting you down like the dog you are. For some reason, CO's don't appreciate you blowing up their toys.
