06/06 - Promo night!
After the fun of last night I just had to share. As noticed in this thread, I've expressed an interest in joining a TG squad. I've really enjoyed some fun play with members of the 9th, and since Tuesdays at 9 was supposed to be one of their squad nights, I made a point of being around last night. I started the evening at Master Sergeant Gold rank.
Early on I spent some time leading a few squads. The main highlights: Belgrade: Leading a squad on Belgrade, we raced straight to Statue. I spelled off one guy to wait on the walker spawn, and the others jumped on the flag. Sure enough, we capped it, grabbed the walker and hunkered down for some defense. Engineers in the squad put down some mines, and we had a couple of assaults set up for any infantry pushes. It didn't take long before we had a hard push in from the north, a squad getting a spawn beacon down and rushing at us. Thanks to some sharp shooting and awesome teamwork, we repelled them. The enemy came at us again, with tanks and apcs... every time between our engineers and the walker we drove them off. In the lulls we set up covering fire on Ruins, Com Tower and Playground. The Commander was on top of things, but some squads weren't getting it done. We had to pull out from Statue to recapture Ruins for the team. Moving in with the walker for cover, the squad hussled over there, capped the flag and held off a small assault. Then it was racing back to Statue to repel another attack there. At the end of the day, the team squeezed out a victory, and we didn't drop Statue once from start to finish. Suez Canal: This marked the beginning of facing off against a squad from the 9th. Right from the start my squad came in at Dry Lake and we set up to defend it. Quick mines from the engineers and setting up on the building tops and we took care of a couple of tanks early. Then the 9th squad put down a beacon to our north and came in hard. Since we were mostly with engineer kits, it was a hard job keeping them out. We managed to hold off a couple of waves, but they forced us back and eventually took the point. We fell back to Trash Dump and set up defense there, eventually pushing back into Dry Lake after repeating the 9th's own tactics (spawn beacon to the north behind the hill, hard infantry push). I jumped ship to the other team in the next round to try and get some playtime in with the 9th that were present. I was lucky enough to get into their squad, and we had a great time defending Trash Dump. I spent 95% of the round as engineer, the highlight probably being our crazy run towards Oil Station to support our squad tank... which got blown up when we were half-way there This saw us in the middle of no-man's land with an enemy tank and an infantry squad in front of us. We took care of the tank, took care of the infantry and somehow managed to race back to the relative safety of Trash Dump basically intact.Tunis Harbor: Once again I found myself leading a squad with the 9th for opponents. Specifically my 2-man squad trying to defend Eastern Docks against a squad full of TGers Needless to say it was a tough task. Some carefully placed APMs and RDX saw them delayed at times, but it was certainly a losing proposition. In the end the Docks traded hands a couple of times, but it was sure fun seeing all those red dots come racing in, and knowing just who it was.I finished the night on Belgrade with some more great TG teamwork. To cap the evening, I got promoted not once, not twice, but THREE times to reach Sergeant Major of the Army. Getting 3 or 4 500 point ribbons/awards in the course of one evening didn't hurt either ![]() In all, a great night of gaming that saw me late to work this morning (thank god for flexible hours). Thanks for the fun fellas.

You're up for squad leading, that's great !
Lots of people willing to squad lead is a key factor in our servers quality. The 9th are rock 'n' roll now, good to squad up with as you eagerly know.

Re: 06/06 - Promo night!
I hate to be the guy replying to my own post, but something I forgot to add, which might well have been the highlight of my night.
Camp Gibraltar: Round 1 we're on assault. I took SL and ran a team down the East side as per my post in the Tactics forum about how best to win on this map. I have a good squad around me who are following orders, and reviving well. Things are going swimmingly as we get behind the line at Harbor, and we're closing in on Toll Station. Sure enough, we hit Toll Station, and go up the ladder on the east side to make a run after Ruin... only to run into a TG squad waiting for us there Maybe they read my post, maybe they didn't. It was just a funny moment regardless. The next round I lead a squad defending at Toll Station. They did an absolute bang-up job at laying mines, reviving and generally causing trouble. We saved a couple of rush assaults before eventually the rest of the team lost Harbor and came back to help us. Some really nice teamwork and a lot of fun.

Re: 06/06 - Promo night!
Crux, if you're interested in one of our in-house squads, send one of their leader's a PM stating your interest in THEIR in-house squad. All in-house squads, with the exception of the Irregulars, require supporting membership (which I see you have) at the minimum.
You can find info about all the in-house squads on tacticalwiki, so look them up there, as methods for joining can be different dependent on the squad.

Re: 06/06 - Promo night!
I am glad to learn you enjoyed playing with members of the 9th Mobile Infantry. It sounds like your night was not only fun, but quite rewarding, as well. While we are not currently recruiting new members, we always unlock 9th MID squads before the start of rounds in the hope that other players will join us on the battlefield.
