For those that have been playing forever and have all the unlocks, are there alot of variation between the weapons for a slight number change on the chart on that link?

For example the difference between the Voss and the Baur is one shot difference over all ranges, so when you hold both weapons is having to get in that last shot a very significant factor when the weapon is in your hand? Or do you find it that the Baur is hands down better then the Voss in all circumstances?

I'm comtemplating where I should drop my next unlocks. I've picked up all 4 on the right hand (medic) path on Assault, Frags, and both sprints. I'm trying to decide on a couple of different options. I'm contemplating adding some in Support or Engy to add some situational flexibility, or just continuing to dump into assault since I usually play medic as default unless there is a SL request or an urgent need for another kit as demands. Is the best bang for the buck on unlock points to go straight for the Baur and be done with it, go up to rockets and field upgrade to the Baur, or forget the Baur cause the Voss is good enough and get helmet and field upgrade to rockets?

baur vs voss is an interesting comparison. i have higher accuracy with baur, but i just feel like i kill more with the voss. i think it depends on play style. if you tend to camp from medium range, the baur is the ideal weapon using single shot mode, in close combat with many enemys around, the voss really takes the cake for me. i run out of ammo with the baur at the worst times, usually it just after i kill on person and thier squadmate runs around the corner. my accuracy with the voss is like 21% and with the baur is 25%. im still trying to tweak my playstyle to use the baur in close quarters, but generally speaking, if it is a close firefight 1v1, i win the the voss and lose with the baur. medium range, i can hold off a person with a baur if i have cover.

My baur shooting style is to do a burst of two rounds (with its ROF that's not hard, I've even been able to get my control down so that I fire only ONE shot when ROF is on automatic), unless its CQB, and then I unload into the sucker's torso.

Waffle, I'd go for rockets and leave the Baur as a field upgrade until you figure out whether you like it or not. I used to use the Voss for everything, until I gave the Baur a serious try. Despite Bomm's claims to the contrary, the Voss has its uses. For close to medium range combat, where your target has little cover, the Voss has a large magazine and low recoil, allowing you to put a lethal amount of bullets on target in one burst. I have found the Baur to be most useful, to me, in medium to long range combat where I can realistically only hit with one to two bullets at a time (which comes up quite often). It can also be used in close combat due to its high damage, but I just can't stand its crazy recoil on full auto.

I only unlocked the Pilum and Voss all the way up. The other trees I just unlocked up until the top gun and get them with field unlocks. You get a lot of field unlocks on a TG server.

yup. i'm finally to a rank now where i hardly need to field upgrade stuff, but i used to use field grades all the time.

For me, the voss is my everyday weapon whereas I use the baur in certain situations. The truth for me is that if i'm long distance, i'll use rockets most of the time anyway.

Thanks for your responses everyone. I guess the best course of action is what seems to be the common concensus. Grab up to rockets and just upgrade for the guns (and keep that philosophy for the other lines too.) If I play a couple maps I seem to end up with more upgrades to spend then I have things to buy, so that is surely a good way to go.

I haven't seen a detailed guide written up about stategies for spending unlocks (course I've not looked real hard yet, either.) Anyone have a link to a good one that contains advice like eveyone posted?
