Question Apply within

I'm trying to get a PR 0.5 practice on helo piloting. To get this off the ground (el cheapo pun intended), I need a good pilot (2 if possible).

You need:

1- PR 0.5 (duh!)
2- Da skillz
3- Patience
4- TeamSpeak and a mike

I'll take care of the logistics.

I'm posting this in the Irregs forum but the offer is extended to everyone.

I'd like to get this going in the next 2 weeks.

Cheers!

DB

Re: Apply within

I can't fly but I definitely want to take this training. It sounds like it will be too cool. Thanks Blonov!

Re: Apply within

I'm an average pilot. I could fly the little bird no-problem in .4, back then it was easy to do a rooftop landing at near full speed by simply "flaring" at the last moment to ensure you touched the skids down lightly, and then rocked forwards to fly away. Now the thing seems really touchy, but i's way more realistic, so not a bad thing. Sign me up as wanting to hone my pilot skills, though I'm not your best bet for instructor/demo-er.

Re: Apply within

I got them all, to a degree, still not great with the new choppers, but I am really starting to realize their potential. I have a mic, problem is, it don't work! Just tell me what you need Dick and I'll see what I can do.

Re: Apply within

@Sam
Some of my thoughts:

maps: Muttrah City, Ghost Train, Steel Thunder.

These should cover most of the helos and I think goes from easiest to hardest.

How does that look for starters (you can post of PM me your thoughts, we'll come up with something):

1- Basic helo flying: here's a neat site.
2- Using mouse+keyboard vs joystick (not sure which one you use, I'm M+K)
3- Getting it off the ground, and landing
4- Hovering, flying, landing
5- Using free-look

I've been toying around and one thing I noticed with PR, you have to let the engine rev up or else!

Only in theory Rick, everything works in theory.

My mouse and keyboard limits me to the choppers anyways, haven't quite figured out my Saitek yet, not enough hours in on it.

I have a Saitek Cyborg EVO. My beef with it is that only the throttle is analog (or proportional if you will). I have better success with the mouse for the pitch and roll axis. I'm thinking of using the Saitek just for the throttle control. Seems kind of a waste...

Re: Apply within

Yea, I hear ya on the EVO. The thing is my hands are used to the mouse, every time I try to fly with the joystick I over-correct and then it just feels like I'm wrestling with the stick to get control back. With the mouse; it's all smooth movements and I have complete control.

Re: Apply within

Maybe 2 instructors? One to teach joystick and one for mouse/kb?

Probably a good idea, but I think if this works out, we may end up doing more than one session.

Check this thread

I see this going 2 ways: basic I need to learn how to fly, and more advanced tactical flying (moving troops, insertions, para drops, attack helo, etc).

Re: Apply within

Sounds awesome, count me in. I haven't really flown the PR helis, but I'm decent in the BF2 helis and awesome in BFV and Desert Combat mod helis.

Re: Apply within

I'm almost completely new to PR in general, so I'm interested in getting some practice in with its helos (since that's my preference in POE2 & BF2).

Sign me up for the training and keep me informed.
