Re: No Mic
That's funny, my mic broke a couple days ago as well. But I have a little clippable mic. So when I play I have my Zalman 5.1 headphones, a crappy pair of logitech behind-the-head headset, and a zlaman clippable mic clipped to the end of the logitech headset's mic (because the mic can't pick up anything unless its right at your mouth).
Maybe I should buy a new mic. |

Re: No Mic
Yeah, I have shared the no mic frustration. I started out without one and went and picked one up because it was evident that it was pretty much required. But, that's where the touble began.
Since my computer is about 8 feet away from where I sit, I had to get a USB headset so I could have the thing actually connect to my machine. Appearantly, if you ever disconnect the headset (say, to listen to your normal speakers again) Windows will default back to another recording device instead of keeping the settings when you connect it back up. So, for a couple of days I'm screaming at my SL/SMs and they can't hear a word I'm saying. It was frustrating getting everything set back up right because the game would get locked on the default recording device even if the Windows settings were properly addressed to the USB mic, also. I eventually got it sorted back out, but I ended up having to play several rounds with no game sounds and no mic. Playing 2142 in silent mode isn't excatly a great way to play the game. ![]() |

Re: No Mic
Hmm, if you guys need a mic, just buy a Logitech standard microphone from Newegg for like $10. It's cheap, and the mic is of good quality (i have the black one and use it all the time).

Re: No Mic
Oh did I mention it is "noise-cancelling"? That means, a clear voice input instead of crackles and pops being picked up while you speak. It does not cancel out other peoples' voices
