PR Al Falluja 12/2
I played ine some very good rounds yesterday.
The big map (Al Burj?) was quite fun as for once the us got to push into city flags by some handy choppering. Nice squad we had going, and we set some great ambushes on the west beach. (squad: gahlas, e-male,cantpickname,xeil, and someone I unfortunately forgot. The funniest round though was on Al Falluja. One time playing on this map I realized the arty reloads really, really fast. So I decided to make a one man "arty squad" since we had a good CO on: Dirty. I talked my plan to keep spotting for him through with him, and then he had the ingenious idea to start giving me waypoint orders exactly where he would want the artillery. After some quick deaths, and the realization that getting behind the enemy zergforce wasn't going to work, we got a great rhythm going. Here is the drill: 1) Dirtboy spots enemy through co view and sets rally point right on top of the mob. ![]() 2) I pop out and request arty. ![]() 3) Another war journalist killed. ![]() Again, here with the medic who was a helpful asset to the squad for some time Dirtboy has given me the waypoint. ![]() Pop out, request. ![]() We had great teamwork going, and it was in fact really easy. I am certain that together we killed over 50 opfor, but possibly many more. My intention was just to see if this is very effective to do, as a test and as a wake up call, to use arty more. Soon enough the other squads were requesting arty before I could get to a waypoint as they awakened to the power of the arty on this map. When we got to the choke point, It got really sweet, as you see Dirtboy getting lucky with 5 to 10 kills while missing by a hair 10 guys near the wall. ![]() I'm think I'm going to regret this post the next time I play that map .

Re: Al Falluja 12/2
That was REALLY fun...and the great part is that we used the arty's as a shield. I think that we need to have a designated "Arty" squad that just goes out and requests srty strikes that the commander set waypoints to(ie. cp's, supply crates, APC's, just where the commander would see a mass of ppl to destroy). We had some great rounds and we ended up halting the advance and held them at Dam. I had a blast all around and I would like to send my At a' Boy" to my SL's at the time.

Re: Al Falluja 12/2
Forward observer indeed. As I said it was very fun to play. I would get a clearly defined mission every few minutes.
I always like to play BF as an objective based game. I like giving my squad a specific mission as much as I can, as this adds immersion by adding some sort storyline, and it gives a sense of accomplishment to your squad, which in turn boosts squad cohesion and morale. I really think commanders will end up being a huge asset in this mod in the future. In the co seat however I am having difficulty finding a good strategies, because I'm pretty new to the aasv2 dynamics. I would like to see a thread about this, where people explain their thoughts on the different strats CO's can employ. Maybe it is too early for that yet.

Re: Al Falluja 12/2
Greetings. Good work Al and Dirt.
some gamers may feel the arty is too powerful and reloads too quickly. Keep in mind, just about any explosive device can damage it. For example, the gunships can go on a arty destruction missions and take them down. P.S. two slams can take one piece down.

Re: Al Falluja 12/2 ADDeD BATTLERECORDER SCREENS
Here are some moments from the round on Al Burj, where we got a great ambush set, with mines, apc, and heavy AT Xeil whom you will see in action:
What's that little dot? ![]() Why it's Xeil waiting for the enemy! ![]() The enemy. ![]() The rocket. ![]() ![]() Off into the sunset after a successful defence. ![]() Control of the city established! ![]()

Re: Al Falluja 12/2
Nice shots Al. I guess I watched recording for this. You guys landed with an APC, captured beach flag and defended it. Then I've seen E-male setting mines on main road and there was an AT guy (Xeil?) way way up on a hill...
When I saw that enemy APC coming your way I knew this was going to be fun to watch That guy avoided E-male's mine somehow but when he deployed some troops Emale got one of them and 2-3 were taken by a rocket coming from skies, almost a kilometer away ! That AT guy was probably targeting APC but instead blew those poor deployed soldiers into the sky. HA HA... It was like a matrix scene...Last edited by John CANavar; 02-18-2007 at 01:15 PM. |

Re: PR Al Falluja 12/2
Yes you are talking about the right one John.
The funniest thing I discovered was about the first apc that came our way. In the game I thought someone of the squad took it out. In watching the replay I realised he stopped just before attacking us, a guy spawned, layed the mines near him and then the apc backed up on them ... TK.
