BF2142 Sanity Check Error

I've been trying to fix this for the past week with no luck whatsoever. I've done a complete registry wipe of all mentions of 2142, as well as a directory wipe (My Documents folder included), and have redownloaded and reinstalled the game several times.

No matter what I do, each time I tried joining the TG server for the scrim, I got a sanity check error. You can see a screenie of it below:

I've tried everything that people have been telling me, but nothing's been working. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Re: BF2142 Sanity Error

Don't bother writing EA support, they're retarded anyway. I used to get those errors, but I don't anymore, bizarrely. One thing I've seen around is to increase your page file. It can't hurt anyway, and that seems to be a popular attempted fix for it.

Right click My Computer->Properties->Advanced Tab->Settings under Performance->Advanced->Click Change under Virtual Memory->Click Custom and set both Initial and Max size to be about 2X your real RAM.

Thanks for the link. I've sent them an e-mail explaining my situation and am looking forward to their response (as silly and irrelevant as it will probably be).

Re: BF2142 Sanity Error

Have you considered getting a brand new HD and reinstalling windows? I know it's a bit drastic, but I find that installing windows anew is less of a price to pay than diddling with drivers and reinstalls and getting no results.
You could even go the dual-boot route and keep your old goods. Newegg sells 80GB Seagate SATAs for $50 with shipping.

Re: BF2142 Sanity Error

I get this error all the time. I usually have to restart Windows a few times to get the game to load right after this happens. I've never heard of anyone else having this error.

If you're going to get a new HDD, Newegg has 250gb SATAII hard drives for 69 or so. 'Nuff said

Any news from EA?

*Edit*

Have you changed ANY hardware around the time that this started happening?

How many memory sticks are using?

I read somewhere that someone resolved this by
  1. Unistall the game (remove folders/files from "My Documents" too)
  2. Clear temporary Internet Files in IE (flush the cache)
  3. Resinstall and patch to current
clearing your temporary internet files (flush the cache)

Re: BF2142 Sanity Error

None of my hardware has changed since the game was last working. I've done a COMPLETE reinstall of 2142 (incl. deleting all folders associated with the games, and all registry entries with it), and even downloaded a fresh copy through EA Link. Still got the error.

Lorax - I'm using two sticks of 1gb, but they're working perfectly according to memtest, and have worked flawlessly in the past.

Have you checked you windows update history to see if something was changed around the time when you started having problems ?

The key item referenced in the post I read was clearing the IE cache, I have no idea how relevant that is, but the original poster was sure this had something to do with the fix. Might be that EA Link is getting hung up on something in there. I'll see if I can locate the forum and post I'm referencing for you...

Re: BF2142 Sanity Error

That might make sense seeing as the sanity error may be coming from a conflict with IE/explorer.exe since the two are more loose with memory allocation than a whore is with her preference of men.

Clear the cache and see if that clears the error.

It may be coming up b/c the RAM is trying to access a portion that explorer.exe has said, "OH!!! I want some memory RIGHT HERE!"

Also, have you defragged since your started having errors?
